Hi Anyone have any experience of using Photo-flo or any other wetting agent as a developer additive, I have just processed my first batch of b&w sheet film using nitrogen burst agitation in a 1 gallon tank, evenness of development was excellent but had a few air bells, dev was hc110 dil. b initial agitation as per Kodak publication. Any advise much appreciated.

I'm considering ordering Edwal LFN Wetting Agent from Freestyle and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it. I have been using the Arista wetting agent for a while and have had mixed results with it. Sometimes there were no streaks and water spots and sometimes there were some (not much, but enough to justify rewashing the dirty negatives. I'm assuming the mixed results comes from me ...

I've been useing LFN for years, never had any problems. You can also use a couple of drops of it in the developer to help prevent air bells on the film, you cant do that with any other brands of wetting agent. Rick

Just getting back into my darkroom. Everything delivered - HCA, Dektol, Xtol, Stop, Selenium Toner etc. Realized I'd forgotten to order Photo-Flo. I've always used Photo-Flo or C-41 stabilizer/final rinse in the past but I'd run my nine test films and I wasn't about to wait another few days for Photo-Flo. So I got me a tiny bottle of "Finish" dishwasher rinse. I figured it was only test films so ...

I learned a different way of using wetting agent that has worked well for me: I found a plastic container of a convenient shape. Fill it up with distilled water. Each time I process film add a capful of isopropyl alcohol and a drop of wetting agent. Pop the lid back on, shake it up a bit, take the film off of the reels and run it through 4 or 5 times. Give the film a gentle shake and hang to dry ...

I've just decided to start developing my own film after the last film sent off to be processed took 3 weeks to come back. I got all the chemicals I could a few days ago, plus a changing bag. My dad used to process film quite a bit so I'm borrowing some of his old kit (graduates, tank and spiral, clips) that are still in good condition. I noticed an old bottle of Paterson wetting ...

I thought I remember somewhere reading that Ilford specifically recommended against it for their films. Something about how it washed away a wetting agent or something that Ilford felt helped in the development process. That said I've started doing it when I use the more specialized developers like Dixactol Lux and Exactol as they are prone to uneven development if the film and canister are a ...

I use Ilfotol as wetting agent diluted in deionized water. I use 0,2 -0,3 ml per 500ml of water. Too little Ilfotol and you get water marks, too much and you get wetting agent residue. The recommended dilution by Ilford is too much. Then I hang the film in a quiet place in my darkroom to dry. It takes around 2 hours to be ready. I think that 120 films tend to dry more clearly than 135. Another ...
