I decided I would do a side by side comparison between these two production pistols. I took them both to the range along with a friend and his gun vise and the carry level ammo I have chosen for both pistols. The ammo for the 10mm Dan Wesson was Winchester 175gr FMJ Slivertips and the ammo for the .45acp Colt is Speer 230gr JHP Gold Dots. FORM: Dan Wesson: Standard 1911 with...

I finally got to the range with my new 10mm Dan Wesson Classic Bobtail today. I was so busy with the new puppy that I was not sure I was going to ever get to the range. I managed to run all 100 rounds that I had bought through it in the small amount of time I had. I would have loved to shhot a little more but time was limited and 10mm and .45acp rounds are not cheap (I also put 50 rounds through...

Great as a backup/emergency marker, or just for toying around in the back yard. Retail on this is 59.99. ...

I have a Smith and Wesson .500 with a 4" barrel. It is in excellent condition. The only marks on it are some small black marks at the compensator that I'm sure will clean off with the right stuff. It is stainless with a rubber grip. This is a cannon and a blast to shoot. I bought this one used and shot 12 rounds through it. The guy I bought it from didn't know how many rounds have been ...

We purchased a NIB 686 yesterday for $599.99. My dad and I were excited about the beautiful new revolver and decided to try it out today. We bought 100 Winchester .38 specials and 50 Remington UMC magnums and headed out to the range. We loaded the .38s and Dad was shooting it first. The first and second rounds went smoothly. The third, however, did nothing. We looked at each other and attributed...

I am doing research on all of my guns and was wondering if you all knew where I could find info on an older Smith and Wesson model 40 revolver. From the 50's I would guess. I believe that is when my grandfather bought it. Info for this gun seems to be the hardest to find. Its a 2 inch barrel Hammerless with a grip safety. thanks

Besides the 13 and the 19, any other K frame Smith's ever made in .357, and of those are there any that have a sub-group with 3" barrels? I know of only one of the 13s that does (13-3?) Thanks

Jay, I think I fed it 100rds. of Blazer Brass 230gr. FMJ, 50rds. of Fiocchi 230gr. FMJ and over 50rds of the Federal HST 230gr. +P HP's. The failures to feed were only with the hollow points, the ball fed without a hitch. I'm not very concerned about the ftf's, since it's new and very tight.

Quote: This is not just a pre-lock 686. It is a 3 inch CS-1 (customs service). Yep, that is NOT a run of the mill 686. I would have grabbed it. Even if it wasn't a CS-3, and was just a regular 3" 686, it is still not a bad price. Heck, a new 3" 686 with the lock will cost almost that, and I'd much rather have the collectible no-lock version!

I have had mine for a couple of months. I also have a Jerry Miculek 627 V-Comp from the PC Shop from ~'01. It has a very light/smooth trigger - the 627 Pro had a 'nice' trigger as delivered. It's 'tuning' appears to be a shortened strain screw! It had a standard looking flat hammer spring. I polished the rebound slide, put in a bit weaker trigger return spring, replaced the strain screw with a ...

The main problem with Dan Wesson revolvers is the pointablity of their barrels. They may not point straight because of how the frame and barrel shroud are cut. The timing may be off too. Not all grips are comfortable, but there are many such to buy on ebay. I have had to tinker with both of mine. One I gave up on and sold cheap and I'm not totally thrilled with the remaining. Buy the model 14 if...
