I'm not sure about WHS specifically, but in general, an OEM OS is tied to one device. Technically you would have to buy a new copy of WHS if you were to replace the motherboard. That being said, from what I've heard, when it comes time to replace the motherboard, Microsoft will give you a new key.

a C2D e8500 with a GF9300 mobo or one of the ION Atom based GF9400? I have a e8500 in my desktop now and was thinking of upgrading it to a q9550 and using the e8500 for a HTPC/WHS. Happy Thanksgiving! Can you manually add files to the WHS without messing the backups? I know this has most likly been answered however I have looked in the forums there were 1223 results. The disk that WHS is installed is a SATA 100gb disk. Can I clone that disk to a 1tb disk using Accronis clone? I have cloned other disks using Accronis and it worked perfectly even when it was the OS disk. Thanks, Marion

Have my WHS up and running backing up 4 home PC's Excellent. Decided to upgrade network to N so chose a DGN2000 router. Set it up same as 834PN and network works perfectly but PC's can nol longer connect to WHS. Cannot figure out why. Suggestions please.
