hello everyone. I recently purchased an '82 w123 280e, and so far i'm chuffed to bits. There was a slighting running issue, but after a tune up its running like new. Dont have any major plans for it, the drivers seat is tired and sagging so i will replace that when i find one, and some of the chrome could do with attention, but all in good time. Anyway, onto the problem...

I'm considering purchasing a W123 wagon. I'd like to know what some of the known issues associated with the turbo diesel W123 cars. I'm reluctant to purchase 25 year old turbocharged vechicle. How reliable are W123 turbos? It's my understanding that most turbos last approximately 100K before needing to be rebuilt. I've seen several post detailing SLS & transmission problems. Are W123's ...

Dear friends, i got a W123 1984 2L gasoline car done for a professional engine service where they replaced the pistons' rings, casgate, and the valves' guides in the head. i had also changed two valve arms and a new chain drive. the result was perfect and i run the car for one month slowly(2000 rpm only) just to smooth it. however it got back powerful as new with no oil leaked or smoke any more...

Hey there guys, Ive got a problem that I hope some of you can assist me with. Ive just installed a Becker Grand Prix 0780 into my W123, the Blaupunkt that I removed worked perfectly and was of the correct age, but I feel the Becker fits nicely with the originality of my car, although its just a little newer than the car itself. Id earlier installed some new speakers...

People, My W123 300D just came out of the shop yesterday, after being completely drowned by Ondoy (he actually stalled in waist-deep waters inside our village). He's pretty much back in shape now, and is just about ready to soldier on. However, I still need the following items: 1. instrument cluster (USV) 2. vacuum element for the trunk 3. headliner (where the ...

Unlucky parking the other day, my passenger door lost its chromes. I fear someone intentionally took them out. My only hope is that it will be used for another w123 and not just plain vandalism. I know these are hard to come by, but if anyone has leads please tell. I am even considering buying a complete set. Thanks!

Anyone know if there is someone in Cork or even Munster that could do this conversion. I have a 1991 190D 2.0 litre engine that is top notch. I would like to drop this into a w123 reasonably good bodyshell but not sure how viable it is as a conversion. There are guys in the UK that do it but I would prefer to find someone locally that knows what they are at. Any recommendations?

Hello all The heater blower/fan works just fine on speeds 1 and 2 but if I turn the switch to 3 it stops and then won't work on any speed. So I checked the fuse - it looked fine but I pulled it out and replaced it just in case. And again - works on 1 and 2 but stops at 3 and won't work again until I pull out the fuse and reinsert it. Just to make it clear, the fuse...

Replaced my old alternator with a rebuilt one. After about 300 miles the rebuilt one died. Thinking maybe I received a bad rebuild I replaced it under warranty. The second replacement lasted about 1400 miles and than it died. Am I missing something with this replacement? I can understand one bad rebuild but two seems to be too much.

Looking for engine shock mounts for my 1982 300D. These are the things with a rubber bushing inside that mount inside the holes in the engine mounting arms that the engine shocks connect to. I need two, but if you have only one I'll buy it. Price in the neighborhood of $10... must be in useable condition!

My Paula just had symptoms of engine sputtering today. She just feels like a stock load of phlegm needs to be spat out. A brief outline of what transpired in the last few weeks before it came to this: 3 weeks ago: - Engine Tune-up and oil change (Mobil 15w40) 2 weeks ago: - Evidence of power loss, (not a daily driver). Was using Paula twice a week - Back to the shop for ...

Hello to everyone. Im Paul from west scotland - im currently in the Submarine service. One of my shipmates has had a W123 on a D for years, and around the end of 2007 he decided to loose the keys for it. Instead of going to Merc to get some more, he decided to leave the car in the local work underground carpark for the foreseeable future. Upon realising it was his, i ...

Dear forum folks, Where can I get a key for my 1982 W123 300 CD ? I went to the local hardware store, and they don't carry blanks for it. Can I buy some blanks somewhere, then return to the hardware store and have them cut it? I know I'm in much better shape since it's an '82. I'm sure the new ones are big bucks. Thanks for any help. Hi everyone, I am wondering if any of the original MB rims for 107 are the same as for W116, W123 or W126? I am especially interested if the 14" bundts are (found them in perfect condition from W123 here), and the 15" on the photos attached, which could be found here from 126's. Also, if you could send the right tire sizes for 14" and 15" for 450sl - great! I know that I ask too many ...

What is the correct spray pattern for a good/new w123 washer nozzle? More specifically, are they supposed to spray a mist or shoot a single stream of water? BTW, the peachparts/fastlane/allparts picture of the washer nozzle shows 2 nozzles. But you only get one and not a set. Frustrating. I'm also wondering if the w126 nozzles can be used easily on the w123.
