Greeting: I just bought a new computer and was dismayed to find that HP doesn't provide drivers for my Scanjet 5400c. I read another post referring a member of this forum to the VueScan website for 3rd party drivers, but I don't see my specific scanner model there. I do see 5300c and 5370c listed. Does anyone know if the driver for either of these would work for the 5400c? And, ...

Hi, I'm going to be starting a big project of scanning 1000's of colour negative film strips using an Epson V700 flatbed scanner. Is there a good tutorial, walkthough to do this? What software is best for the job? I'm cosidering Vuescan, is it much better that the packaged software from Epson or Silverfast? Many Thanks Shane

With nikon scan I get the "unable to find any active devices" message. Anybody have any ideas? I have seen the advice...

FWIW, I'm scanning in over 5,000 Ektachrome slides and an equal number of color negatives taken over 30 years ago, using a Nikon 5000ED scanner. I ditched the Nikon software in favor of VueScan, and found I could turn off the fading and color enhancement post-processing steps. Run the output in batches through Neat Image, and then batch process through a custom Photoshop action (Levels, Curves,...

Don't know about Vuescan, but Silverfast (the other software with legacy support for lots of older scanners) says it works with the LS-2000 but only using SCSI, so maybe installing a SCSI card is the best hope. For sure check out Vuescan first, since there is a free demo. But if Windows won't even recognize the scanner then doesn't that need to be addressed with a driver or something?
