Ok It is my understanding that vsync caps the fps at 60 in games. Most games give you an option to turn vsync on or off. However MW2 does not. So my first question is what's the deal with that? and is there anyway to enable it to 60? so it runs smoothly and I don't get the tearing affect? I have heard that the cap is set at a default of 85, which isn't as smooth as 60.

I have my monitor set to 75hz for general purposes but I want my newer games to run at 60hz (because they run faster with vsync enabled). Is there any way in Windows 7 32-bit (software or otherwise) to set custom refresh rates for games so I don't have to keep changing the global setting?

Ati 5850 / 5870 - stutter with vsync - dragon age, sims 3, torchlight etc. Is there any fix for this, DAO's stutter can be remove by not forcing vsync thru d3doveridder, torchlight & sims 3 has stuttering problem when moving from side to side... odd problem is that, when using a gtx260, i have never encounter a micro stutter. already tried usb ...

While applying Vsync on games, be that through D3D Overrider or the in-game options, or double buffered or triple buffered my framerate is locked at 55.4 instead of 60. I have Win 7 Home Premium x64 and before that Vista Ultimate x64 and didn't have this problem on Vista. I have tested on my monitor (Dell 2208WFP) and my Pioneer 4280 plasma and it happens in both. My card is a Sapphire ...

Hi everyone, I've just started getting into Winuae again and i've noticed a sound issue whenever i run "Fullscreen+Vsync".... The sound starts to slightly distort and go a bit "crackly". I downloaded version 1.6.1 and have tried it with 3 totally different PC's running Windows 7 and XP but this issue is present on all systems. It's fine without Vsync enabled but why? I've tried running ...

I've been having this incredibly annoying problem in Shadow of Chernobyl lately, I've been getting pretty bad screen tearing. Vsync is supposed to fix this but after doing some research I'm finding other people that cannot get vsync to work in this game. I've tried turning it on in the game options and forcing in Catalyst Control but it does nothing. No matter what I do STALKER is always ...

Hi guys, I have a pretty basic hardware question to ask you. My system which uses an old 8800GTS (when they were brand new) and an Acer X223W (23" monitor) gets some screen tearing when moving my camera around fast. I can get upwards of up to 100 FPS in areas where there are not many people I would love to keep the frame rate as high as possible. I was told that screen tearing happens because ...

Oh jeez...so basically all this time you want vsync on so your graphics display is "vertically synced" with the monitors refresh rate ;_; Alright I get it now, keep Vsync off unless i'm trying to benchmark (see how high my FPS can go) Thanks a ton

Well this is the question i have in my mind at the moment: 5870 or 5970... I've Samsung T260 and i play all the games at 1920x1200 with Vsync ON so as i've read around(and at http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=309382 ), Vsync prevents Micro Stuttering to a degree but i still have my doubts... Can anyone confirm that 5970 @ 1920x1200 with VSYNC ON has micro ...
