I'm gonna port some '062' vortec heads i got kicking around. The first thing I'm gonna do is port match the intake runners then bowl blend and focus on the short side radius of the exhaust runner. Anybody know what year range of the GM 4.3L vortec would make a good candidate for the YJ? If I go this route, it will likely be the GM auto or 5spd and 231C that comes with the engine.

i got a 1996 350 vortec in my 2door tahoe that cuts off when i get to a stop. it takes about 3 tries to get the truck started, it idles and runs good but ass soon as you go to stop it it stumbles and shuts off. i read on another forum of the same problem, the guy replaced his fuel pump (i was going to do that tomorrow) and same problem. i checked all the vacum hoses and compared it to my brothers...

I am trying to work out the wiring on my buggy, and are only able to get the motor to fire when we squirt in carb cleaner. We have 'heard' that the one injector on the top of the CPI vortec engines can go bad if left to sit for a few years. Mine has been sitting not running for almost 2 now, so we are suspect of it. I am about to install the 96 model vortec in my rig and need to round up parts. The donor has an auto behind it so I need to buy a flywheel p/p and t o bearing to run it with my sm420.I am pretty sure I have the bellhousing already, but if not, I know I have one for sm465. Is there a special pilot bushing or bearing that I need to go with or just a stock pilot for sm420? Is the depth of hole for ...

I have a chevy 350 Vortec motor what I need to know is what I need to set the base timing and total timing to. The motor is in a 1978 Monte Carlo so is doesn't have a computer for the PCM to control it. It has a professional product airgap intake, 650 double pumper holley with no choke, 1 inch spacer, summit blue print dist. 50,000V in cap coil, MSD 6 AL.

Hey guys. I'm gonna pick up my vortec heads at Summit and I need to know a few things. What are some decent rockers to get with a tight budget? Do I need hardened pushrods? I need vortec intake manifold gaskets but is there anything else I'm missing? Just a 355 with a 470 lift cam.Thanks.
