In Firefox 3.6 b1 (on OpenSolaris snv_126 x86_64) is noticable a significant lag, when some of the tabs has running embeded (through audio tag) ogg vorbis audio file. Lag is so significant, that even switching to another tab can take a second or two. It's not supposed to happen (the machine is powerful enough). In top firefox-bin is shown as taking around 1.18% CPU (using Core...

Xiph ogg/vorbis plugin on Snow Leopard Hi, I seem to be having trouble getting ogg/vorbis support in quicktime/iTunes on Snow Leopard, but I can't find much about it online, so I'm wondering if I'm the only one? I've downloaded the Xiph Component and tried installing it both for myself and system wide, but both iTunes and ...

I'm Using directsound for ogg file playback. Also using the code I took from this website for it. http://www.flipcode.com/archives/Ogg_Vorbis_Player _Class.shtml It works well but I'm trying to play a 2nd music/sound file straight after the 1st finishes. At the moment i believe the 2nd sound file plays a second just before the first finishes thus creating a rather bad mismash of a sound. Can ...

As I understand it, there are several algorithms to compress video (called 'codecs'), such as H.264, XviD, DivX, Ogg Theora, Sorensen, etc. There are also several algorithms to compress audio, such as MP3, Ogg Vorbis, AAC, etc. Furthermore, there are several 'container formats' in which content, compressed by some codec (as mentioned above), can be stored, such as avi, mkv, asf, mov, wmv, ...

I was reading up on various types of software licensing, and I have a question regarding the GNU GPL. If you use code from an open source project (i.e. VLC and its codecs for video playback or ogg vorbis for audio playback in a game for instance), are you allowed to release the final product under a proprietary license (take copyright on it), given that you supply the parts of your code which ...

The problem with installing these codecs by way of 3rd party is that it seems WMP and WMC still will not incorporate the files into the media libraries. This is supposedly because the tags cannot be read by Windows? If there is a way to do this please explain. WMP Tag Plus will add Vorbis, FLAC and WavPack tag support to WMP.
