I have a couple older Siemens voltage regulators model AS60-1A. I am looking for information on testing these devices. I cannot locate a manual for these. They have 14 connections and two 12 position rotary dial switches. Each dial switch has a small pot on it. The terminals are marked 1 (U), 2 (V), 3 (W), 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 (Mp), 9, 10 (K), 11 (X1), 12 (Y1), 13 (Z1) and 14 (J). From the small...

Hello name is Shwag. Ive learned some basic things about electroics over the years and how to pin point problems. i just don't know the technical stuff. Ive started to fix tv boards latley like power supply boards and main boards. mainly capasitors and diodes but i recently have a voltage regulator problem. im trying to figure out how order a replacement. I dont understand how to get the amps ...

My Cobra died twice yesterday, and once today while sitting at a stop light and then while creeping over a speed bump. It dies, and there is no power so I flip the switch on the remote battery cut-off, and then it fires right back up. Odd. Today, I'm at a stop light and I notice that I cannot see the reflection of my headlights on the back of the car in front of me. I blip the throttle...

Looking for "direct" replacements for Siemens Voltage Regulator KS60-1A. I suspect these are obsolete, and I am hoping there is a direct replacement. I believe these are often used on generating equipment. Thanks!

Newbie, 6/75 FJ40. Ammeter pegs + at rev-up. Engine ground strap, battery terminal wires replaced last 6 mos. Sulfated (rotten eggs) two batteries in 6 months. Electrical system is 'ammeter type', only runs F, G, IG from Alt to VR. Today I replaced Alt and external VR with replacement from SOR. perfect fit. within 15 secs of connecting VR it began smoking (engine shut off, just old/sulfated ...

Im working on a Magneti Marelli Model RTT 101C voltage regulator. This is one that has two NPN transistors (other MM regulators that I have worked on employ three transistors). A component connected directly between the emitter and collector of what I call the input transistor was zapped almost beyond recognition (the other transistor is connected to, and outputs directly to the Field ...

So I'm wondering if my voltage regulator is failing. When I first start my 40 the amp meter reads a slight charge. Maybe around 4 amps. If I rev up the engine, it jumps to around 28 for a second or two, then drops to a negative charge, around -5 amps. If I let it idle and watch it, the needle will go back to +4 amps. If I go to the battery with a volt meter and measure, I get around ...

Driving home the other night I noticed the gauge on my 87 showed only11.1 volts. I got home and put the meter on the battery with the car running and only got a little over 11 volts.. The next day I took the alternator off and took it the my auto parts dealer who checked it and said it was fine. He suggested I replace the external voltage regulator....

87 alternators have the voltage regulator mounted INSIDE the alternator, not outside. At 11.1 volts, you have a totally discharged battery and you should charge it up. Normal alternator output voltage is 14.3v (dash voltmeter) cold and it drops as the alternator warms up and is 13.3v at its operating temp. The voltage reg could cause no alt output, but there are also other ...

Good points all around. I will go out and check this morning just as soon as it stops snowing like crazy outside. Yes, no garage and living at 9k has its downsides.

Ive found the other bad components. The original type numbers are easy to cross to easy to find replacement parts (NTE). For example ZD1 on my schematic is a BZZ28. This is a 22 volt/10watt Zener and cross references to a NTE 5197A. The problem with the mystery component is that its type number has been burnt away. I have already e-mailed Magneti Marelli. No response yet though....

The original plastic was a white translucent, but I don't think quite as white as the MSA version. In any event, they all faded over time. The original Nissan part has been NLA for a long time now. Try to find a used one that isn't melted, broken, missing, painted or undercoated on! Most 240s today don't even have them anymore (take a look!). The MSA part is a decent replica and the ...
