In one of the interviews to promote The Road, Viggo mentioned that he owns the rights to a book called The Horsecatcher by Mari Sandov. The book sounds to be a perfect project for him A true-blue Renaissance man with interests in music, photography and poetry, Mortensen plans to keep busy. He has a new book of poems due out soon. He does not, however, have "The Hobbit" on his ...

towards the end of today's interview with Viggo on NPR (NY), he was discussing why he might have considered quitting acting... he mentioned that it can be frustrated working on a film since it is a big group effort and it is not handled properly. He then went on to say that he believes The Road is not being handled well, with the delays and limited screenings.

the Oscar he deserved twice, once for Eastern Promises and once for History of Violence. He and Johnny Depp are two guys who I think have done some amazing films and have truly been snubbed. Well Gary Oldman too. But Viggo blew me away with Eastern Promises, and then i went back and watched History and it was also amazing. This role seems like a contender, plus i dont think there are the bs ...

I got the director of The Road, John Hillcoat on Monday. Also got the author of The Road and No Country for Old Men, Cormac McCarthy. I got Viggo Mortensen at GMA on Tuesday, he signed in a very thin ballpoint-like sharpie. Yesterday I got a photo with him at a Q&A for The Road. I liked Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I wonder what other movies he's been in since the Lord of the Rings, other than Hidalgo? I watched Hidalgo also, and he plays a good cowboy too!

After seeing its release date pushed back several times over the past year, The Road , based on the novel by Cormac McCarthy ( No Country for Old Men ), finally opens in North American cinemas this week. Fortunately, I didn't have to wait this long -- I saw it in September at this year's Toronto International Film Festival. So, how is the film? I thought it was great. Very ...

After battling evil in The Lord of the Rings, the accomplished actor takes on a different kind of overarching menace in the screen adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's catastrophically compelling ode to humanity. Mortensen talks about the movie, its message and the power of apocalyptic cinema. More...

The Road is an offbeat romantic comedy in which ever-charming Hollywood hunk Viggo Mortenson plays a single parent searching for love and food in a quirky post-apocalyptic wasteland. Life throws a lot of things between Mortenson and love; cannibals, starvation, crazy neighbors, you name it. In one hilarious scene, Mortenson meets an attractive, single pregnant woman! Could this person be the ...

It's with Peter Travers (Rolling Stone): http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/roads-viggo-mo rtensen-modern-day-r enaissance-man/story?id=9139136 For those of us who have been following the marketing of this movie and mostly complaining about it, Mortensen mentions how the movie needed "careful handling" in its marketing. ;-> Laurie Mann Pittsburgh Flicks - Movie-making in the 'Burgh ...

I have been looking forward to this film for a while now as a huge Viggo fan, but after reading the book recently I am even more looking forward to it. The closest theater to me showing it is on Boston common (a 40 minute train ride+15 minutes on a subway) I MAY be willing to do it on Saturday if it won't get a wider release, if so I can wait. Anyone know if/when this will get a wider release...

I thought the movie was pretty amazing. Loved the pacing and it did stay true to the book. All of the performances were dead on and Viggo was top notch. The kid was amazing as well and had alot of depth in his character. Some portions of the book was what I visualized in the movie so kudos to the director. This movie was not sugar coated at all. http://theboricuacritic.blogspot.com/

Not the title of course, but you catch my drift. With the talk of Viggo Mortenson saying he'd be happy to reprise his role as Aragorn, I got thinking, why the hell not? He exists in the timeline of the Hobbit, and is a beloved and awesome character. If you could stick him in there and keep the same basic premise but expand upon it (perhaps as an original parallel side-story), why not? The...

OK Viggo, after all the name calling, give me a few facts to support your accusations. This isn't the movies now; this is real life. There is a difference.

I don't know either, WP. Has anyone ever tried? On this..... board? OMG, only about a gazillion times, ! Which is why it gets boring after a while.... If he happens to win an Oscar, it will be interesting to watch the board swell up with newbie posters, lol! I wanna do bad things with you.....

Well yes, if you look at it that way, I suppose it is a horror movie. There is a cannibalism scene in the book though I haven't seen the film yet so I don't know what they've included. It's certainly not a movie about sweetness and light but I really liked the book - mostly because it was very well written. I've read so many sci-fi books about the end of the world that I'm mostly inured to the...
