I just received a letter from Lexus that my car (2007 RX350) needs to have the VVT-i Oil hose replacement free of charge by Lexus Dealer. I have scheduled for 10 AM today. I believe they will replace the rubber hose with a metal hose. In the last two days, I've seen a few drops of oil on the garage floor. So, keep an eye on yours before it blows up the engine.

Has anyone here ever tried using a Camcon controller to retard or advance valve timing on the IS? I have a Celica and have tuned the VVT-i and have recieved a better linear power curve and gained a little over 9whp using the controller. I know we have dual vvti so depending on the ECU wiring diagram, we might actually need two controllers but im not sure how the dual works? Does anyone have a ...

my timing gear broke after 110k and when I started the rebuild on the head, I discovered 6 bent valves as I expected. I grabed the VVT gear assembly and it turned. I tried to turn it again and it wouldnt'. It got me thinking as this may have gone bad or locked up during it running and cause the chain to break. Althought it controls the timing on the intake valves could it a bad VVT gear ...

Hi, NEWBIE here. Been an occasional lurker. Recently purchased an '09 Saturn Outlook with GM's new direct injection, variable valve timing V-6. A very sweet ride. There are many threads on the LAMBDA forums (Outlook, Acadia, Enclave and Traverse) on oil life, fuel dilution and sludge buildup. I initially decided to change the factory fill oil early (did so at 672 miles at the dealer). ...

Hows Does Evo 9 Mivec work? I know the Evo 9 Mivec is VVT, and moves the intake cam via oil pressure. But does it use the twin lobe camshaft like in this youtube clip? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgDdbrMh6bo (28sec to 1:15) Or is the evo 9 mivec system something different from the older systems? I tried ...

Coming back from dealer to get an answer on why I'm having long starts, Rough Idle and drivability issues of bogging out,and No CEL. I'm thinking maybe a fuel pump. Well it turns out that their finding out that the timing chain is stretching and not allowing the VVT to do its job properly! So $1300 to get the job done. They want to replace the VVT, replace the chain and do some induction ...

I just got it done on our 2008 RX350AWD and it took the dealer less than 1.5 hrs to replace the oil hose, change the oil, check brake pad wear and wash/vacuum the RX. The service advisor said some vehicles were exhibiting oil leak but quite a few didn't leak at all. He said the same problem occured on the Camry but this recall is not applicable for the ES350 based on his understanding. He said ...
