Hi, I have deployed 6 machines using Native VD Boot and all has gone well so far, I am very impressed with this feature of Windows 7. However someone has asked me to check what would happen if the power was to fail on the machine running from a VHD, would the VHD be corrupted or would it still work when the power is restored. I have had a look around the internet for an answer but the closest ...

My laptop came with Windows Vista Home Premium x86 installed. I have since removed Vista to make way for Windows 7 Professional x64. If I create a VHD then attach it in Windows 7 to make it a virtual drive, will Windows Vista be able to detect it and install itself on to it? 1 person needs an answer I do too

If I use the VHD file on my local hard drive it works fine, but if I copy the VHD file to an external USB hard drive Virtual PC is not able to recognize the file as a valid virtual hard drive. I have checked file permissions, that the drive it is not read only and that there is sufficient space available. The error message displayed in Virtual PC is "The file 'filename.vhd' is not a valid ...

Once a VHD is created using DISKPART tool (Windows 2008 R2), is it possible to change the MAXIMUM attribute of that VHD? I created a VHD with maximum=25000, but unfortunately, it's larger than the available space on the HD. Even though the VHD itself is only 4G, 2008 R2 Server "blue screens" trying to boot from VHD, saying there isn't enough space to host the VHD. I guess it looks at the ...

Symantec System Recovery 2010: It seems like no matter what server I use the VHD's wont boot. By server I mean a machine running windows 2003 server. the hardware itself is just IDE drives. Nothing special, actually a very basic dell optiplex 260 tower. I have tried booting the files in VirtualPC and in Sun microsystems Virtual box to no avail. When I boot the VHD in virtual box ...

I installed XP Mode last week on my 7 Ultimate edition installation. Overall the virtual PC has been working fine, but I have encountered a problem concerning the virtual hard drive. Within the XP mode itself, the vhd shows that it is only using 19GB of space, but in the User accounts within Windows 7, the .vhd file is 60GB. I'm not sure why the virtual PC is doing this, but it is a major ...

I've been favouring Virtual PC on Windows XP host for a long time. Suits my needs. Then I used Windows 7 booting directly from a .vhd. I lose the impromptu switching between machines but Windows 7 booting from a .vhd is as fast as normally installed from hard disk (except for being unable to do a Windows Experience Index and can't migrate from Windows 7RC to Windows RTM). Recently, I've been...

The following problem do we have with the CSV. When we set up a VHD on a CSV and measure the disk performance we only get following throughput 75-80MB /second against expected 320-350MB/sec. Somehow is there a major performance problem with the CSV function. Is their any solution for this problem? We have set up a direct connected cluster disk in the VM ...

Yes that's correct, the problem exists both for running existing VHD from the drive, and creating new VHD's. I didn't try to create new virtual machines to begin with, sorry for that. I now removed the volume completely, re-created it and formatted it as NTFS. No compressions is enabled, everyone has Full control permissions on the drive. If I try to create a new VHD from Virtual PC I get the ...
