I'm adding a video card (a Geforce 9400GT 512MB pci-e 2.0 to a Dell Optiplex 320 computer. This should have been a 10-15 minute job but I've spent a good 8 hours or so trying to resolve this issue. The computer had on-board integrated video so I disabled those drivers, turned off the computer, plugged in the new video card into the pci-e slot, fired it up, video showed up while plugged into...

Thank you EXCellR8 for that suggestion. I tried to reset the CMOS but I was still getting the same problem afterwards. I also updated my chipset drivers for the motherboard and then tried to install the video drivers after that. My display adapter still said VGAsave and the drivers wouldn't install because the new video card wasn't recognized in the system. I'm not sure what to do next. ...

nicolatesla wrote : un-install all existing VGA drivers first, then reboot Turn off all antivirus and security systems Disable the windows firewall Then load the driver software :hello: :hello: I am thinking that will solve the issue. This sort of worked. Or at least something similar did. Removing the old ATI drivers didn't work, so I went ahead and uninstalled the driver for the onboard ...

Vista has legacy video drivers from the days of DOS - vga.sys & vgasave.sys. If you un-install the video card, it will look like safemode. Simply re-boot; Vista will re-install the driver upon system re-boot. jcgriff2 .

If so, go into the BIOS and switch your onboard graphics to enabled, then try to get into Windows from there. If you get nothing at all from the card and nothing at all from the onboard port, first try removing the AGP card and plugging the monitor into the onboard port to see if ...
