Hey P4x4, I started building this rig and later decided to join the Air Force, forcing me to leave this project behind. It's built off the front half of a Chevy K-20 frame. The cage is built W/2x.120 HREW tubing and is currently completely bolted to the frame so you can remove it easily and start from scratch. It's got a 350 in it that needs a little work. It runs but needs new exhaust ...

Since the Portal Box issue brought out good speculation and information sharing, here is a very different type of issue, but one that I noticed while going through the photo files.... A small sampling, for sure, but I noticed a number of SBU's (and others)that had ignited one way or another. The one that the Motorcycle slid into can be eliminated from consideration. The bike caught on fire...

Any heavy or light truck you like appears to be listed along with commerical rigs like forklifts, marine etc. Engine model listed too so that helps us cross reference. Unimogs ARE LISTED at bottom of Mercedes section http://news.prestolite.com/drupaldoc...ter_Motors. pdf

Can anyone give me information as to when the motors on Unimogs started to be computerized? I have a 1976 406 and repairs and diagnosis on this unit is old school, the way I like it. My '02 Excursion has a computer for everything from the motor to the heating system. My '07 JK won't let the signal light blink without an order from the computer/brain. I like it when the driver controls the ...

If I do it right I,ll put 2 Youtube vids up, the first is a Unimog meeting in Holland I think and shows a drive past of most of the different modern-ish Unimogs. (you,ll see the different heights and widths - you dont have to have huge wide tyres to still have the great off road ability!!!) and the second vid shows the smaller 411 soft and hardtop Unimogs, equivalent to the series one Landrover...

Unimogs are not road trucks. What's done on a mack is not relevant. The truck under discussion is a class 7 on four 47" tires. Who are you anyways? What's your concern that a post about details on a specialized truck is "rude"? If your the owner why don't you tell us about the leaking CTIS and the under inflated rear military surplus tires? Comments about choices that led to this accident ...
