Hi My friends and I were having a debate over whether it is illegal to leave children unattended. Obviously it is morally wrong to leave them, but we were debating in cases of emergencies what is the law for say you leave your children under the age of 5 to go to shop and get milk for baby etc. So only gone for max 10 mins whilst children sleeping. Any legal issues?

If you are an owner of a dog that belongs to a 'dangerous breed' category and you also have a child or a visiting small child please take this as a warning. did you let your kids walk to school/to a friends' house alone (i.e. unattended by an adult)? stay home alone? I thought there were laws that prohibited that before age 12, but most States don't seem to regulate this or have a variety of ages (9-14).
