Summary: Is there a simple way to allow a trusted app to launch and bypass UAC other than the ACT (application compatibiity toolkit)? More info: I use Win7600-Home Premium (not Pro) for software development and Photoshop. With Photoshop, my experience is that the UAC prompt shows up when I start Adobe Photoshop, Bridge, DngConverter, and other components of the CS4 suite. My understanding is ...

My experience is that the UAC prompt/challenge shows up when I start Adobe Photoshop-64, Bridge, DngConverter, and other ...

Hi all, I tested the SerialShield sdk to protect my software. It was fine until I reactivated the UAC under windows Vista. Then my application crashes due to the protection system (i runs fine without it). Using this protection, I must run my application with administration rights, which is annoying since the administration rights are only used for reading/writing the serial keys. But ...

Hello, Some guidelines for unattended Java installation in an Win2008 HPC Cluster environment: Deactivate UAC on all nodes ; Otherwise the nodes will simple hang, and wait for the UAC acceptance that will never happen. You can omit this by doing the first Java installation by hand via RDesktop login. Afterwards all successive unattended installation will succeed. We have currently no...

Running W7HP with UAC set to one level above disabled. Everytime at startup, UAC prompts to allow Orb to run. Is there anyway to permanently allow Orb without having to disable UAC?

Hello. I am in the process of adding windows 7 machines to a 2008 domain. I ran into a problem with my drives not mapping via a vbs logon script once I enabled UAC. I found a Microsoft article with a workaround here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937624 The workaround they suggest works, but right above the workaround is the ominous message: "Important This workaround may make your ...

Hi all, I am facing some problems with my software and the UAC. I have developped a medical application. Images can be imported and are a stored in a database (MS-Access). By default, my installer will create an "Images" folder in the "program files" under my software name. When a user import images, those images will be stored into that folder. I also have a folder to store the log files....

No, it's one of the most annoying things with UAC. One thing you can do is download norton labs UAC, it's called something like that. After that, stop UAC from running and enable norton labs. Norton Labs has an option, "Don't ask me about this program again."
Installer. Since I logged into this Forum today, User Account Control keeps popping up with this message: Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer? And the program in question is Adobe Flash Player Installer. I answer "No" every time. Why is UAC asking about this particular program on this website? The same request happens on other sites too. How ...

Hi, we're producing a system service for Windows Server 2008. One of the tasks of the service is to create a user and a group. The service runs as a minimally-privileged user created on installation. This service user is added to the Power Users group, as specified in the documentation for, say, NetLocalGroupAdd. The service's ...

I just realized that my paid version of MBAM is not auto updating as it should (yes, it's enabled and set for 7pm) on my new install of Win7x64 Home Premium. I just did a manual update just 'for fun' and noticed that I was about 20 versions behind on the definition database. I'm pretty sure that UAC is blocking the update. How do I configure it to allow the updates? AntiVir (the free version) is ...

I've got this app -- that wants to run with elevated priv's. I've added to the manifest: Is it possible to make the app auto-start with elevation? The app can run without elevation... but in order to make use of some API's I need more rights. The question -- is there a way to register the app so that it's pre-...
