I have a 36 Ford rear axle, torque tube connected to a 39 trans, when I installed the u-joint I packed almost a full can of grease into it (as per the Tardel book). The cork seal is in place. When I drive the car for more than 30 minutes, some grease dumps out. Is that normal, did I overfill the u-joint, or is there some sort of special, high heat grease that I should be using. Thanks

260 strength compared to 760 u joint strength comparison I am looking at upgrading from stock axles shafts to HD spicer axles that will hold the 297/760 u-joint. I know that the 297 is 1 3/16" cap, verses the 260's 1 1/16 cap. Does anyone know how much of a stength increase this u-joint diameter upgrade relates to using the ...

I'm not real vehicle savy but I thought I'd post this for anyone/everyone else in case you're like me and are learning as you go... I bought my '04 Titan in '06. Since the 1st time I got it on the Interstate, after picking up speed, the whole truck vibrated. Leading up to 75mph it was bad, at 75mph it was the worst and then got smoother as you sped up even more. Its done this ever since I've...

When my truck shifts from 1st gear to 2nd it kinda feels like it has a little play then catches kinda firm(not like a tranny slipping). Only happens if i take off regular, if i give it gas off take it off you cant really notice it. and when it shifts from 2-3-4 you can hear a slight clank noise. anyone think its u-joints? or maybe something else?

I'm goin to put a new clutch on my 240. Checking the car I saw that the rear drive shaft U-joint is not good . And maybe the metallic noise that I listem is due to this. So I want to change the rear U-Joint. Is it difficult? I found two types of u-joint on on-line sellers. http://www.drivewire.com....joints/ How I can be sure for the right model? Have I to check the ...

Should have bought the $10 U-joint A few months back I heard the tale tale sounds of a u-joint going out and kept putting it off to replace it. Then one night on the way to catch a flight to Alaska for 3 weeks for work(thats when things like this always happen) I heard rocks grinding in my driveline, then a snap and lots of jerking as the ...

Replacing U-Joints on a 2001 Blazer 2WD. Got the driveshaft off but can't figure out how the U-Joints are held on. No visible clips on the inside or outside. Looks like small pins going thru the side of the driveshaft is all.

I am in the middle of doing a 3 link / 4link build. I am swapping in a HP 44 and FF 60 out of a 79 F250. The front and rear will be locked with 5:13's.. Right now it has 4.0L and 5speed with a 231 w/ SYE. I will be running 38" TSL's on about 4.5" of lift over stock. I am looking to achieve 3" up travel and about 9" down travel with a wheel base of 102" ( 1 inch gained from moving front end ...

For My '05 Ram 2500 4WD 5.9L, I once bought a rear driveshaft U-joint, Neapco 2-0054HD that equals Spicer 5-160X. I kept the box for reference. Now I need a new one and the partsfinder at theujointstore.com suggests that the Neapco 2-0760 (Spicer 5-760X). I'm a bit riddled by this, can this be the same joint?

You would have to get circlips to re-use old plastic retained U-joints. But, the plastic retainer ones won't work with circlips! If you take them off, might as well get new ones. Properly installed, they last a long time.

I know 96+ has injection. If it is injection use a well ventilated area as that injection plastic stinks the whole garage up. I also like the heavy duty joints. Just do not put the drive shaft in a vise, most likely you will dent it up.
