.243 Twist Rate I previously posted this in the general section, but I didn't get any replys that were on topic so I'll give this a try here. I'm wondering, If I have a fast twist barrel (about 1 in 8") that is designed to fire heavy bullets like the 105gr nosler competition bullet, can I still fire light 55gr bullets out of...

I am working on 2 custom rifle builds, one in .308 and another in .22-250. I am probably going to be using 155gr bullets in the .308 and around 68gr in the .22-250. What would the best twist rate be for these 2 rifles. Thanks in advance for the help.

Why would Anschutz produce a 1:14 twist barrel on a 64 action BR rifle - so that it wouldnt perform anywhere near as good as their 1:16 on a 54 action BR rifle costing 3X as much? I have noticed too that the barrels intended for the 64 action tend to have a longer chamber than those for the 54 action - another deliberate act?

old Sneaky Pete here: Unless you are Designing for a SPECIFIC Projectile ie Sierra 155gr MK-HPBT which the origionator commentated "Probably"(not specific) a 1:10 or 1:11 Probably wouldn't make a whole lot of difference. I recall that David Tubb (with his Tubb 2000) started with a 1:9 twist but finally settled on a 1:9.5 twist for the best groups. Now that's specific. But costly! THANX--...

I just bought one of Gene Davis's 40x's built in 05 with a benchmart reverse taper 2 groove (1/17.75 twist). The previous owner sold it I guess because he thought it quit shooting...I test shot it the first time and it key holded almost every shot. The temp was 38 degree F. Still shot a 244 with 5 x's Eley 1060 match. Almost scared me off....I did some research....before I bought it. ...
