There may be some but I have not heard of them. I know there is Civilization, and I plan on getting it, but I was looking for more traditional types like Final Fantasy Tactics and the Disgaea games (on playstation). Can anyone make any reccomendations? Thanks in advance. "When the rich wage war, it's the poor who die."

So this seems to be a much underappreciated genre, and I thought I'd get peoples opinions and recommendations on it. I personally haven't played too many of them, other than things like Civilization, and the combat in things like Fallout, so I'd be interested in your suggestions. What are your favourites (no other requirement other than that it's turn based, although being good would help)?

Hello I'm in a bit of a pickle at the moment. One of my all-time favourite games is Age Of Wonders. I just love playing it, always have. Problem is I can't get it to work with CrossOver. I don't fancy doing a full Parallels install for just one game, no matter how much I love it. So I thought I'd have a look at some alternatives for my real-time/strategy-based fix? ...

Well, I downloaded the demo of Civilization Revolution and it is sucking me in. I am never been a fan of strategy games, but this one has a trick: it is turn based. Like most RPGs indeed. I think Civ Rev will be for me what FF VII has been for RPGs in the Playstation. There are many similarities like Levelling up in different "skills", the battles when an enemy attacks you look like ...

QUOTE(mattness @ June 14th 2008, 12:50 PM) I do of course like the Civ series, but have yet to try CivIV. As I've said in previous posts, I have had bad luck with 3d engines in Strategy games. The 3D part of CivIV is fine, as far as not being annoying goes (not so fine as far as being fast, at least on the Mac version). QUOTE I am intrigued by Massive Assault. I seem to ...

O bama's Community Roots By David Moberg April 3, 2007 In 1985, freshly graduated from Columbia University and working for a New York business consultant, Barack Obama decided to become a community organizer. Though he liked the idea, he didn't understand what the job involved , and his inquiries turned up few opportunities. Then...

I was thinking that despite this last little "patch" with the Mets, the Brewers are 7-4 in the last 11 games (.636 or a 103-win pace). That's still pretty good! If the Beer Men had gone 4-2 vs. the Pirates, 1-1 vs. STL and 2-1 vs. the Mets, we all would be feeling great, and the Beer Men would be..... 7-4 in the past 11 games! Same record! True, it would be nice to beat quality opponents ...

I don't often talk about self-published books here on SF-Fandom. There are many, many people who self-publish and most of them realize very poor sales (compared to editorially-chosen books promoted by regular publishers). Of course, a lot of self-published books are non-fiction books, how-to guides, recipe books, poetry collections, and personal memoirs that won't have mass market appeal ...

Just for the record, readers, Im here as a Plebeian (and I heart that word) with a normal three-day pass I paid for with my own hard-earned money. Im also hanging out with three friends and am subject to what they want to do, not what I want to cover. I have not once pulled rank as a Kotaku correspondent to score free shit or get into crowded events (okay, maybe once, but that was for ...
