Does anyone have a great tummy time mat that they can suggest? DS HATES being on his tummy. I've tried everything... keeping my face facing his so he doesn't feel alone, placing toys and opened books in his view, etc. I've had him on his play mat so there's lots to look at, I've had him propped up over a boppy pillow and he still hates it. I've seen a few tummy time mats that look a bit more ...

How important is tummy time and when do you start laying them on their tummies? I am so scared to, but I see pics of other babies on their tummies. Should I give it a go?

What is tummy time? I keep hearing about it, and I get that it is when you lay your baby on their tummy, but is there anything more I am missing? How many times a day should you do this, and at what age should you start? What is it for? Dumb question... I know.

I hardly ever do tummy time with DD.. she has pretty good head control and has since birth. She gets fussy now when you try to lay her on her tummy... should I not even try anymore? What do you recommend I do?

My LO has tolerated more tummy time but it seems like he has reached a plateau of 6-7 minutes. So I googled and we had fun doing: -ride on an exercise ball tummy down (the most fun!) -good old fashioned airplane ride (mom lies on back, bends legs at knees, puts LO on his tummy on her shins and lifts/moves!) -prop a towel/pillow under his chest -rests on his tummy on your knees when ...

I have seen a couple others say their babies hate tummy time. Any suggestions or things that have worked for any one else that has this issue? My LO will be 6 weeks tomorrow and he cries every time I put him on his tummy. I don't want him to lose out on the important muscle development that takes place on the tummy, but I feel so bad sitting there while he is unhappy.

I feel like there is a really easy solution to this that I'm missing... We have ancient yet beautiful wood floors throughout our entire house that I love, yet I am at a loss when it comes time for Tyler to be on his belly (which he doesn't tolerate for long as it is). He will roll around and look around, but mostly the kid wants to scooch all over! I put my hands/arms behind his feet to let ...

We don't really do it because my son hates it. All of you that do tummy time, is your baby screaming the whole time or what? My mom said she never did tummy time with any of us, and somehow we learned to crawl and roll over and hold our heads up anyway!

I know there were alot of posts on here about our LO's not liking tummy time. I was just wondering if it has gotten any better yet? And if so, how old is your LO?

My LO was born on Halloween and on our discharge papers they recommend supervised tummy time. Isn't it early for that? How long and how often do I put her on her activity mat? Anyone?

OK, ladies, Bekah HATES tummy time, and as a result I do it less than I should. Today Matt and I both got on the floor with her, and he was like, "I can hardly stand this! She obviously hates it!" She just grunts unhappily the whole time and we stick it out until she full-out cries (3-4 minutes). We have her on a colorful play mat, and I put toys around her to look at, and lay down with ...

This is my 3rd, so you'd think I would know this, but I don't! With my 1st I didn't know I was supposed to do "tummy time", and with my 2nd, he HATED being on his stomach, so I rarely did it. Tristan is 2 weeks old today, and is just starting to have more "wakeful" times during the day, and so I was wondering when I should start him on his tummy.

My LO hates, absolutely hates, tummy time. He goes to daycare and they have told me that they try to do 15 min of tummy time a day, and we do tummy time on the weekends with him, but he gets soooo mad! I see all these pictures of other LO's who are propped up on their arms, my little guy cannot even do that! He just turned 4 months today, and he rolls from side to side, but not over. Close ...
