My son is 13 weeks and I try to have him do "tummy time" everyday. He doesn't like it much because after a bit he starts to cry but I know its a good way for him to strengthen his neck muscles and his arms too. He isn't able to hold up his head much (not sure if its because he can't or if he doesn't want to - he usually lays his head down and sucks on his hands). I'm just worried that he's ...

Do your babies hate it too? How can I help my lo to like it? I've had this problem with my other two as well, and they never learned to like it. What do you do?

I keep reading posts on how peoples babies are starting to roll over and lift their heads up of the floor and it makes me wonder My son refuses to do anything but sleep when he is on his tummy. I will lay him on his tummy on the living room floor with a rolled up receiving blanket under his arms to help prop him up. He, almost immediately, falls asleep. Even if hes wide awake when I'm holding...

Xander wasn't a HUGE fan of tummy time, but he seemed to like it well enough. He was able to hold his head up pretty well from birth, so maybe that has something to do with it. He also slept on his tummy most of the time. What he really didn't like was being on his back. Seems like it made him feel too exposed.

My DD absolutly HATES tummy time! If I lay her on her tummy she just buries her face into the blanket and crys until i pick her up or put her on her back! Even if I try to do it when she is in a good mood and shes happy she still starts crying immediately. If I try using the boppy then she just buries her head into the boppy. But she does amazing at holding her head up when she is sitting up or...

You've gotten some awesome advice already..... FWIW, dd's PT in the NICU told me that tummy time was important - and its true! LOL! I learned the hard way - my oldest child (now 8yrs) didn't crawl for the first time til she was 18 months old - that was AFTER she walked! LOL! Her big ole noggin just didn't allow it... tummy time was awful for her. She screamed and just gave up - so I gave ...

Both of my sons were very strong and have always had great head control and both of them hated tummy time. My oldest never liked it until he was about 7months old and could scoot around. He stood unassited the first time at 4months old because he refused to lay down and wanted to stand. My youngest is a little bit more layed back and I hope he will enjoy being on his tummy sooner than my ...
