It seems to me that eMule causes problems with the drive letter handling in TrueCrypt. As you know TrueCrypt ist the famous open source, encryption program which let the user assign an encryted file container to a (new) drive letter e.g. Y:\ When I do this while emule is running it appears often (but not always) that this drive letter is somehow "locked" by emule as well. Because when I ...

Here is a quote from Leo's website + Truecrypt website: http://ask-leo.com/can_i_or_should_i...y_backups.h tml "...Truecrypt warns that users should NEVER create volumes/backup volumes by copying the container file. Apparently, since the two volumes use the same master key, it "aids cryptanalysis" "...Never create a new TrueCrypt volume by cloning an existing TrueCrypt volume. Always ...

Hi I'm using Windows 7 homegroup feature between two of my computers. I also use truecrypt because of the safety. When I share a truecrypt folder it works fine until I reboot. Windows can't find the folder during startup because I haven't entered the password yet, so it won't share the folder (i guess). If I remove the specified folder from homegroup in the GUI (tried videos/photos in ...

Searching the interwebs for a user friendly guide to encrypting a 1.5tb external hard drive and a flash drive. I have a few questions regarding the process. The first one is on how I can truecrypt my flash drive and still be able to plug it into a different computer and try to gain access to the files on it by using some method such as a user entered password. A situation would be me ...

My USB Flash Drive has (had) an encrypted Truecrypt folder on it, 4GB in size. A colleague of mine put the dongle into another machine which had different encryption software on it and foolishly clicked next>next>next without thinking and has managed to encrypt the device with the new software and the folder that held about 3GB of ...

I keep many important links to things that won't fit on my taskbar (especially since windows 7 does NOT easily allow individual file or folder shortcuts to be pinned to the task bar anyway), and I really don't appreciate the operating system deleting my shortcuts. These icons are work to create and organize, and the OS keeps destroying them. Not acceptable behavior from an OS. It is ...

Which is more reliable and stable? Which is safer? (Ex: from losing the data, corruption etc.) Also, it seems a downside of encrypting a partition like D: drive would be accidentally formatting it and losing all your data. In this thread, someone said something about "hiding" the partition so that doesn't happen. Is this safe? http://forums.truecrypt.org/viewtopic.php?t=18525 ...

Is luks the strongest partition/full-disk encryption available for Linux? If not, what is? -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- ------- Note: When I say "partition", I also want to be able to encrypt the system partition. Meaning, I can't make any use of Truecrypt, in case anyone was thinking of suggesting it. ...

I used TrueCrypt to encrypt a partition and was curious to see what my recovery program "File Scavenger" would be able to recover. Surprisingly, the program could not recover a single file. It seems to me that this method of "wiping data" was more effective than the "Eraser" wiping program (Which had leftover recoverable data..) This leads me to the following question: Is encrypting a ...

Quote - (maskedforever @ Dec 17 2009, 21:32) Actually, the portable Truecrypt solution sounds perfect. All I need is to configure my 1.5TB external with a traveler disk setup and I would be good to go? yes, and then you make an encrypted volume (file container) that takes up the rest of the 1.5tb you could also partition the external disk into two then full-partition encrypt ...
