That is one of our absolute favorite times to travel to WDW! We love NYE, and have frequently started a trip Dec. 31 and ended around Jan. 10th. When the 1st is on a weekend, the first week will be very quiet in the parks. With the 1st on a Thursday, teh crowds will hang around through the weekend, but will drop VERY rapidly on Monday. We have never thought the marathon effected the park ...

The best by far was FLYBE LGW-INV (and return) on the new EMB 195LR (some of the crew were ex BA cityflyer / BA Connect.) Flights actually on time, top service, as many cream teas / sandwiches / teas / drinkies that I could manage in the flight time.(and of course, pay for!!) Keep up ...

I had some Euro cheques with me in Italy a couple of years ago, but only used a few to pay for our driver in Rome excursion. However, there's lots of banks in the major centres and finding one that will cash them shouldn't be difficult. There's also lots of ATM's for you to get cash.
