Fellow ATX 3S'ers, I have seen many threads pop up about suggested transmission fluid types, so in response, I have done a little homework and spent a few nights speaking with the Night Manager at the 24 hour AutoZone here. From previous experiences and 2 rebuilds later, I've pretty much figured out what's good and what's not so good. According to AutoZone's computer databases, ...

My sisters MkIV (2004 Jetta GLS) needs a transmission filter replacement. Basically when you put it into gear (its an automatic) the car wont immediatly shift it into say R or D. I want to do a full atf exchange so I will be disconnecting I believe the lower trans oil cooler line and adding and new atf through the charge tube while draining from the trans oil cooler line until I see new fluid start to ...

Post # 1 Hi, I have a 91 Dodge Ram, 5.2L with automatic and I am going to drop the pan and change filter and fluid. I do not have a manual but have a Haynes manual. It says use Dexron 11 or 111. What I have found is Castrol Dex/Merc. Will this work? Also how difficult is it to adjust the Kickdown band and Low reverse ...

Hi all, I am the proud owner of a 1993 BMW 525i *auto*, my issue is that both me and my dad are pretty sure we need to change out the tranny fluid, or at leasst add more. The problem is where do we check this...looking over the internet I can't find a 100% answer, some say on the side of the transmission there is a plug, is this true? Any help would be great. Thanks....

We have 105K miles on our 2003 Volvo XC90. I want to change the trans fluid and filter. There is no visible pan and screws like on a typical automatic transmission. The Volvo dealer tells me that that the transmission is made by GM and that it is a "maintenance free" design, so the fluid is not to be changed. Question: How do I at least drain the fluid even if I can't change the filter? ...

It has been roughly 60,000 miles since last transmission flush and filter service, and it is probably time to do it again. Last time I took it to a shop to do it. This time I will probably do it in my buddies car port. How many quarts of transmission fluid does it need? Is it hard to replace filter? Any tips? Thanks. 1998 MGM

Does anyone remember or know how to completely change all of the fluid in an automatic transmission? It seems the last time I did it I took the pan off and emptied all the fluid from there that I could. Then I put the pan back on with a new filter, and took off one of the lines from the cooler, started the engine and let the transmission pump the new fluid through the whole system as the ...
