I was wondering what you guys thought of the 4 speed automatic transmission in the Forester? My wife was trying to find an automatic compact SUV. The Forester looked very promising, until we drove it. Pulling out into traffic, it hesitated in a high gear for a second or two, then decided to drop down multiple gears, lurching forward. In contrast, the Outback's CVT transmission ...

64 Ford Galaxie 4 speed Transmission A friend of mine has a 4 speed transmission from a 64 Ford Galaxie...(C4AR-7-6-A........HEH D) I was just wondering if this would be a good trans to use on my 1954 Chrysler 331 motor. How much is the trans worth? I'm sure it could use a face lift but it's in decent...

Thanks for the pics Rick. You did exactly what I was thinking about : resting the front on ramps, and using stands for the rear. I was worried about clearance. I have the same plastic ramps, and HF transmission jack. Although, I'll use the esco stands for the rear. I am glad to finally see it done that way! Cheers,

Re: 64 Ford Galaxie 4 speed Transmission Save that tranny for a real galaxie. The toploader for the 63 and 64 galaxie had a different tailshaft shape than other toploaders of the day, or so I am told. I know that when my father was looking to do a 4spd conversion for his 63 boxtop, the transmission guy said ...
