I have a leak on my transaxle/gearbox and as I am removing it to POR 15 under the bus and carry out a couple of other jobs I thought I should look to rectify this leak. It has been suggested that I should replace all the gaskets whilst it is off the bus. My question is in order to repalce the large hexagonal type paper gaskets where the axle goes into the gearbox do I have to remove the axle ...

Just about to start the replacement of the toast transaxle on my 2003. I bought it like this for a song and now I have to do the dance. It was run dry from a slow leak and I have found a low mileage replacement in Edmonton which should arrive Monday or Tuesday. Car has about 104k miles / 168000 km and is in very good shape otherwise. The search for the transaxle is documented in: How ...

The bracket is the one on the passenger side, below battery, one side of bracket is attached to wheel well, it has a large rubber bushing. What's the difference? I had a gear head friend tell me that since I have a transaxle that it'd make changing the tranny fluid more difficult. It was easy as pie. Any help as to why it would be harder to change?????

My left cv joints have packed it in so I'm going to have to replace them. I was thinking while I had the driveaxle out I should replace the transaxle oil seal also. It's not leaking now but its happened before as soon as I disterb something it will start to leak. Has anyone else replaced this seal? Had any problems? It seems straight forward. Also is that a special seal driver for it? Thanks...

So when I was driving around town this happened. There was a "thud" and this light came on, pulled the car off the road let it run for a few and it seemed okay. Then it did it again after about 5 miles or so, a thud and the light flickered for about a sec. What the heck does this mean?? All the owners manual says if the light comes on while driving have the car serviced. My Focus has 28,7XX on it...

Can anybody direct me to a link and let me know which speciality tools are required if any? Shoud i do both sides even if only the driver's side is the bad one? It sounds like the CV is bad but i have read that it is eaier and cheaper to replace the whole axle assembly. Is this right...

I have bent one prybar and used a long cheater on another with no success...but no luck. Any Ideas...Please help,...

I have a 93 Mazda MX6 LS V6 - Driverside inner cvaxle is stuck in the transaxle. I have bent two 24" prybars...beat the you know what out of it. With no luck. There is very litle room, only one place I can even get a prybar in. One mechanic friend told me I may have to pull the other side and use a punch from the opposite side. I am not sure it will even be open to do that. I would appreciate any...

I will be replacing my 3VZ engine on my ES300 this weekend and the manual says it should come out with the transaxle. I would have to remove the halfshafts (drive) to do this. Is it possible to remove only the engine?

The front wheel transaxle on my '91 Trooper II is held in the hub by a snap ring (you'd think something a bit more substantial but yep it's a snap ring). My left front hub transaxle has popped the snap ring off and retreated back into the inside of the hub. I have tried using a bolt to pull the axle out to put the snap ring back on (you fit a bolt into the end of the axle...
