Hi, We need to enlist several thousand calls to a service that results in millions of records to be inserted/updated in a single transaction. I would like to know how to design such a high volume transactional system. We are using NHibernate and sql 2008. Regards, Krish

If I'm not using a transactional database, and deferred write is set to false, at what points will bdb elect to synch the db? Is it done on a periodic basis, or when memory needs freeing up?

I've heard from some sources that you can save time and effort by just building your cube from (staged versions of) transactional tables, rather than building an olap-style database and building the cube from it. Does anyone have any pointers on where this approach fails or is it really a way to speed up development?

I am looking for a SQL script to remove all transactional data in a database. I am going to be copying a database and need to remove all GL and sub ledger transaction data, but leave all accounts, vendors, customers, etc. intact. I suppose I can go through Maintenance > Clear Data > Series… etc. however this seems like a lengthy ...

Is it a good practice to build a cube from operational tables or it is better to have at least denormalised tables ready for reporting and create cubes from this tables? BTW I am new on SSAS world. Thanks in advance!

Hello: I'd like to validate a vendor supplied procedure that supposedly deletes rows in batches because a single transactional run causes the log file to fill up and thereby rolls the transaction back when there isn't any more disk space for the transaction log file to grow. So, my suggestion to the vendor was to rescript the procedure by deleting the tables in smaller transactions. An ...

Hi All, We have built our application on top of a transactional database. There are no primary key or foriegn key relationship at the database level. Everything is handled at the cube level. Now the records are increasing day by day and hence we are finding it difficult to run the queries. Now we have decided to create indexes . 1) Can i create a clustered index without a primary key in a ...

Both farms will be serving the same transactional website(s). So the database needs to be the same on both farms. What is the best way to replicate databases between the two SQL clusters on the fly? I need to ensure ...

I have a Visual Studio Tools for Office (VSTO) application which uses Excel for the UI and Access for the database. I have approx 10 look up tables, in addition to the transactional tables. To date, the look up tables have been managed simply by opening the Access DB. Now however we are going to have a number of new users of the system who would strongly prefer to modify the lookup tables in ...
