Who has swapped out the torsio keys for one's that give more lift? What do you think of them? Took the Dak. for an alignment the other day and to have them adjust the bars, found out they are already maxxed out. Started talking to the guy about it and he suggested the keys, said he had done a few other installs with them and not had any problems.

Bentley shows for the wagon 23 degrees +50' . Is this to be interpreted as 23 degrees is optimal with a max deviation of +50' or is it to be interpreted as set it to 23 degrees and 50' ? I am confused when Bentley says in one place change it if it deviates by more than 40' yet in the very next paragraph it reads adjust it if it is off by more than 50'.

Hello type 3 experts! I have jumped over from the off-road forum with a question for you all: Are swing axle type 3 rear torsion bars interchangable with type 1 bars? I am looking for a way to upgrade the rear suspension on my baja bug (late model swing axle), without having to spend a HUGE amount of money on importing parts into the UK. The bars that i need are ...

Gentlemen, in the course of the restoration of my 911S from 1968, we just found out that we should use a new rear torsion bar tube. Ideally, you would have a NOS, unused tube that you do not need. Thank you for your offers!

Post # 17 Interesting. I've had the wife's Durango lifted via the torsion bars for about 4 years now with no issues. The D guys do it all the time, and have been for at least the last 10 years.

At the start the passenger side was 22 degrees and 50' as measured from level at the passenger side sills. I moved it one notch on the inner and back one on the outer for 23 degrees and 30'. One of the posts suggested using the sill as the reference rather than the frame as in the Bentley. On this bus the difference was about 1 degree from the frame to the sill. I figure all those years with ...

Torsion bars are for adjusting front chassis ride height. It is measured/adjusted on a perfectly level surface, front to rear and side to side, (typically found on an alignment rack). There is a specification that they must be adjusted within. If adjusted too high or too low, rapid excessive wear to front suspension parts, steering linkage and CV joints will occur. Best to leave it to the ...

Savvas' method works fine, but for best performance indexing is required. Handling tends to be more predictable with the coil springs working through the whole travel. There's a long complicated theoretical explanation for this, but I won't go into it right now. How about trying Savvas' method first, then re-index when you get a chance? You'd need to change coil spring length though.
