Because ATI has awful drivers. They still don't have proper OpenGl support, and they somehow still don't have custom game profiles. It's really baffling to me to be honest. The last Nvidia card I owned was solid through and through. I'm going back soon to the green side.

:) yarg same reason here. Thanks for the quick replies, I would have jumped on the 4850 but the 4770 with all that you mentioned, on top of the fact that it scales nicely - left me opting for the new architecture. I'll post back on some results comparing from the old 2900pro vs the 4770 for those interested. oh... noticed the ram was manufactured by qimonde... lol wtf is that?
