Hi, I just had a short block replaced on warranty (regular piston failure ) but on first start the timing belt went off with one "cut" on last cam and there was a metallic sound also. Probably the piston(s) on that side hit the valves. My question is: should I request a new engine again or it should be ok if only the valves are replaced ? What could happen if the piston(s) are scratched/...

I am looking into buying a Liberty and can't seem to figure out if they have a timing belt or timing chain. Whats the recommended replacement interval?

I cant seem to find any posts about how much timing to pull under boost or what the total advance should be. 2003 touring w/ Procharger @9.5 PSI. Emanage blue for timing control. Since the exhaust upgrade I cant hear ping anymore. Just rebuilt the short block w/ 9 to 1 compression ratio and stronger rods.

Does anyone know why I cannot seem to read a steady timing mark on my car with my timing light?? The mark on the flywheel seems to jump all over the place from 8 to 12 degrees when I am attempting to adjust it to 12. As you can imagine, it is impossible to set it with this conditoin. I ran the car to operating temp and disconnected the coolant temp senor... What gives?

So from what i recall, the m50 comes from the factory with the timing retarded a bit. this helps pass noise and emmision requirements. i would like to purchase a Heal Tech GIPro w/ATRE but funds are low these days. this unit will eliminate the retardation on the timing and i've heard it makes the bike much more torque-y in the low and mid rpms. and who wouldnt want that?! i know Pastor ...

I have a knock sensor code (have had it for years, but that has not caused it to fail emissions). Any ideas - should I replace ...

To do the timing advance with the bully dog or the superchips has nothing to do with installing the any of the "programs" onto the ECU, right? In other words can one person buy either of these hand held tuners and advance the timing on as many trucks as they want. I am aware that you can only "tune" one truck but was thinking that the actual timing advance could be done on multiple trucks with ...

Timing Tuner on 05-06? Since the motor uses a 24X reluctor has anyone used the Timing Tuner? I used on of these on my old T/A and liked it very much. I would like to buy one for my 06' GTO. __________________ 416CI, AFR 225, Ported Fast 92, Cam, Kook's 1 7/8, RPM T-56, ...

Power loss after timing belt change I just purchased a '98 NB and since it had 162K miles and no service records asked my mechanic to replace the timing belt and do some of the other work they noted when doing the buyers check (including the drive belt and replacing a cracked upper timing belt cover). When I picked up the car (after hours unfortunately) I immediately...

Hey guys just wondering. I know about the timing chain rattle issues with the early 180sx's and that replacing the tensioner usually fixes this. Im just wondering do the 1997 type x's have the uprated tensioner? or has there been more revises since then or are the newer ones even better.? (s15's etc) Mine sometimes make noises on startup and jingles when idling. (85,000kms) ...
