I am looking for a backup solution other than Time Machine to back up files incrementally to an external drive. I like the concept of TimeMachine and would like to use it; however, I have significant work that must be accessible to PC sys/appl, so I cannot format it apple-journaled (FAT32 appears best r/w solution for multi-platform). AppleCare advised there is no other incremental ...

Ok here is the deal; I was working in iWork pages on a document and accidentally closed it without saving thinking I already saved it how I wanted earlier (which I didn't). I then finally discovered what the application TimeMachine and I am going to get it up and working but that won't help me recover the document I lost BEFORE I started using TimeMachine! Is there any tricks or way ...

I am doing TimeMachine Backups on a Time Capsule. My Mac is still doing the incremental Backups as usual, but i cannot see them in TimeMachine. TimeMachine always shows: Last Backup: -- Starting TimeMachine I cannot see any Backups at all, not even the one it has just finished. Until recently this worked just fine. The Backups are still on the TimeCapsule as I can see them in Finder...

My (brand new) hard drive shot craps Tuesday. The last few days have been spent getting intimately familiar with DiscWarrior and trying to migrate everything that wasn't permanently damaged to new drive (no, TimeMachine was not yet active on this machine). Today is the first day I have had internet, but between this "fun" project and trying to prepare the house for holiday guests I have...
dock icons Just wondering if anyone knows where on the HDD the icons are stored that are used in the dock? I deleted one, and I don't know where the icon went, and I'd like to restore it via timemachine... thoughts? the icon is a direct link to a script from a software vendor. They charge an arm and a leg for ...

Many people on this board use/recommend SuperDuper. I am re-examining my opinion that I do not need/want SuperDuper. Recently I lost the HDD on my MBP. I was very pleased and frankly surprised how well TimeMachine did at restoring everything. On the theory, SuperDuper must provide valuable function(s), I have these questions: #1 What is the advantage or value of a SuperDuper Clone...

Hi I'm hoping someone can help with a problem I'm having using TimeMachine on a new Macbook Pro backing up to an external notebook drive via USB. The backup starts and runs for a while, but whenever I return to it (varies between minutes or hours later), I either see 'Finder cannot quit because a process is in progress' (in this case the backup continues) or the machine is back at the ...

Hi There, I'ld like to use an iSCSI-Target for my TimeMachine Backup. So I take Comstar with Default settings and the globalSAN iSCSI Target Software for MAC. Problem: Transfering Data ist to slow. (1GBit Ethernet). Took about 10 hours for 50GB what SMB does (on the same Server) in something about an hour. Could someone help me tuning this up? Thx Henri
