Hello everyone. This is my first post and I am a very proud Canadian as well as a relatively new mac user (completely converted and loving it for over 1.5 years now). My question is about Time Machine. I produce marketing and sales videos for a living and have a helper that uses a PC (crazy I know). I am considering purchasing a new mac before too long and was thinking about giving ...

I use a white Macbook running 10.5.8. Alright, so this morning, I tried to restore my iPhoto library using Time Machine to about 2 months ago, since I had deleted some pics. Long story short, it didn't seem to work, so I restored the backup from this morning at 11 am, the latest backup, since I had just uploaded some new photos today. Now my iPhoto library is empty. There are ...

I just bought a 4 bay Drobo to be used for Time Machine and "shared" movies server. I plan to attach the Drobo to Airport Extreme via USB so I can run TM & movies for all 4 Macs on the Network. Setup: - (1) 2TB HD, (2) 1TB HD, one free bay connected to Airport Extreme via USB. Questions: - Should I set up Drobo as ONE drive or should I have 2 partitions, one for TM and one for...

Hi folks, I just purchased an Airport Extreme. I have a WD 2 TB HDD (mirrored to 1 TB) and after a bit of frustration and a lot of forum reading I finally got Time Machine to backup through the AEBS. First I gave my disk a one-word name and I backed up directly over USB, then hooked it back up to the AEBS and it worked that way (I did do the terminal hack to make it visible, but I don't ...

I have a Lacie 2TB big disc that won't mount on my IMac after being disconnected for a few weeks. When I open time machine preferences and turn time machine on I get a message that the computer is scanning for wireless devices. The Lacie is not wireless so it can't be found. How can I get the computer to scan for wired devices? Thanks in advance for any help. IMac 10.5.8, 3.06GHZ 2...

So, my MacBook's disk turned into a brick. Fortunately, I have a Time Machine for it. So, I pulled it and dropped in a new disk, reinstalled Leopard, and when it asked where I wanted to transfer my accounts from, I chose my Time Machine. HOWEVER, it was never able to Calculate one of my User folders. (I had 4 User accounts... I had to turn off one of them so that I could hit the ...

Time Machine didn't restore my iWeb site - how do I get it back? My MBP needed a new HDD, so I did a TM back-up, took it to Apple and they did the business so I reinstalled the OS and restored from TM. Six weeks on I've opened iWeb and my website isn't there. How can I restore it (and why didn't TM do it?)?

I just setup bootcamp on my MBP with win 7. I then did a time machine backup and it backed up like 22gigs. My question is does time machine back up the bootcamp drive? If so is there a way to restore that drive if something happens with windows. I've searched through here and the apple support and came up with nothing. thanks

Hi, I'm using 10.6.2 and I never use Time Machine amd so I have it turned off. Even so, every time I connect an external hardrive that the system considers "big" enough, I get prompeted as to if I want or not to use that HD as the Time Machine HD (even if it is the 1000th time I connect that specific drive to my computer and said "NO" the previous 999 times). Any way to just turn off this for ...
