Advice please. Hope Ive not asked to many questions. When tiling up to wall and floor units is it better to take the tile to butt against the Unit? Or maybe leave a space for grout between? What size tile spacers would you recommend for a kitchen cavity plastered wall using Porcelain 600mm x 300mmx10mm? Would it be best to damp wall and tile First? Or leave dry? (Using evo-stik ...

Published at LXer: The new version of i3 adds support for many little improvements (see below). Similarily to other tiling window managers, i3s goal is to increase productivity by not having overlapping windows. In contrast to wmii, i3 was designed to work well with Xinerama and particular focus has been on producing clean, readable and hackable code. Read More...

Got a tile project coming up real soon. I'm tiling over a vinyl strip (think real thin vinyl "boards") floor up next to a tack strip where it meets carpet. This floor meets the carpet on a long, sweeping double curve. Now the crux of the project is this transition. This carpet has one of those gaudy gold tack strips with a flange that folds back over the carpet. The floor is on a slab....

Sorry if I have posted in the wrong place or if its not suitable here. Its really a software problem more than DIY but I hope someone can help me. If someone has an answer it could well be useful for others in building too. It started when I decided to tile my kitchen wall, above my worktop. The area is ~70x280 cm and the tiles I want to use are 20x25 cm. So clever me thinks ...

Hi, I find that I am often stretching windows to make them appear side by side. Is there a way in 2010.0 KDE to select 2 open applications and have them automatically display side-by-side, each taking half of the screen? Thanks.

I have a tiler who is doing my bathroom. I bought the B&q wall tile adhesive and grout. On the tin it says it is enough for 8.2 sq metres. However he has used a whole tin to do one wall which is about 4 sq metres at most. What is he doing wrong? I had to buy some more as he has at least another 3-4sq metres to do ALso does anyone know where I can get a border transfer for tiles....

I recently advertised on Craigslist to give away some bathroom tiling supplies that were left over from my recent do-it-yourself bathroom shower retiling project. I had a bucket of mortar and a box of grout. My guess is that the materials are worth about 20 or 25 dollars and not worth my while to try to sell. Anyway, I got very few responses, but one person is willing to drive about 35 miles ...

Recently finished tiling main floor tub surround. Went great thanks to this forum's help articles. Looking at the basement washroom now. Some cracks in the grout. Grout looks discolored, especially the bottom half of the shower where it is most exposed to water. Removed the old caulk between shower pan and bottom row of tiles - looks like some black material on the back side of the caulk...

Hi, I will be tiling a Bathtub surround using 5" x 13" porcelain / ceramic tiles and would like to know which one to use? I've read that you should not use the epoxy/glue type thinset? if I use the grey color thinset/mortar how would the tiles stay on the wall? Do I need to tape them to hold them in place if I can't use the "glue"? thinset = Mortar = epoxy = kerapoxy? Last ...

I installed a toilet flange in our basement bathroom we are putting it. Despite my best efforts I couldn't get it to rest on the cement floor - it sits up about 1/4 inch. I am tiling the floor soon. What options do I have at this point to make this work? Can I put some wood underneath it so it rests on this? thanks!

This is probably a rhetorical question, but I thought I would ask anyway. One of my students asked if there is a way to adjust the tiling in the background image that you can insert in a spreadsheet. ( Pre 2007 - Format, Sheet, Background; or 2007 - Page Layout, Background ) I usually advise them to stay away from background since I cannot really see a useful purpose for it. But she says ...
