Abnormal tides reported in northern Tasmania last week are being attributed to a rare atmospheric disturbance, known as a meteo-tsunami. The Weather Bureau took several calls from people in Stanley, Port Sorell and Bridport who noticed particularly high and fast moving tides on November the 22nd. The bureau says it was caused by a rare rissaga, or meteo-tsunami, but spokesman Brendan ...

I want to book a Ocean view, double room for 5 nights, late May 2010 for the start of my 50th birthday special vacation! I am looking at two hotels. The Betsy and The Tides. As I want a 'vacation to remember' (for the right reasons!), which is the best hotel for service, rooms etc? I have read all the reviews on trip advisor but still cannot decide. Thanks

Hi I would like to know if tides are different in the summer than the winter sincerely Tyler Answer Hi Tyler There are very minimal differences in the tides due to the distance between the Earth and the Sun ( we are closer to the Sun during winter in the Northern Hemisphere, so tidal influece is very slightly higher at spring tides.) But you will also see more influence ...

Have the renovations on the Tides Inn Resort been completed? We have a reservation there in July 2010 for the Penthouse and were told the motel would be closed for renovations in Sept, Oct, and Nov. The manager is great there and the view is fantastic. Also, is the rebuilding of the White Cap completed? We had stayed there for several years and are interested in info about the new rooms...

Night has lost the sky & shadowy crickets sing the fluorescent silence of napalm in a hazy downpour of sun & bed of a breeze. Sparrows hymn ancient syllables near the sugar cane fields, swaying of tamarinds & coconuts palms on the coast of green tides with rims of foam, the odor of salt on coppery blue vapors. Early in the fresh morning a delicate fragrance of ...

Despite being a bit of a comms luddite, I think I'm being drawn toward an iPhone, especially afetr seeing the many fishy-functions Scotty has on his - moon, tides, etc etc. What I'm wondering is, how good is the GPS function? Is it just city driving turn-by-turn stuff, or does it have topo capability, and/or are you able to upload a "real" offroad map like Oz Topo or an equivalent 1:250 000 ...

How six points and one man changed football in Georgia Paul Johnson cringed as UGA excelled and the tides turned. Six points on a crisp day when 54 were scored. Six points that halted a dream of righting a seven-year run of losing for one side and induced an abject reversal for the other. Six points that changed the state of college football in a state that lives for college football....

Falling Snow #8 Passing through life like wagon trains Leaving tracks on fresh virgin plains. For a while we disturbed the grass Our existence felt as we pass. Or footprints in the fresh beach sand Our seeds rarely grow as planned. The tides soon wash away our trail We can't beat nature on any scale. Once lush fields again become dirt, The depth of ...

Quote: "Let us learn our lessons. Never , never , never believe any war will be smooth and easy, or that anyone who embarks on that strange voyage can measure the tides and hurricanes he will encounter. The Statesman who yields to war must realize that once the signal is given , he is no longer the master of policy but the slave of ...
