My nail likes to run cool in the cold and hot in the heat. Could be a stuck open thermometer from sitting idle. Anybody know what the local shop part number is for a 160 vs the standard 180 for the nail... and which one is better? and why?

dumb question: i bought a new thermometer for DD that can be used 3 ways> oral, under the arm, rectal (*shudder*) in the instructions, it says that the under the arm temp will be 1 degree lower than oral temp. this means the oral temp is the correct temp and the under arm temp needs to be adjusted by 1 degree to get the correct temp, right? yes, i am dumb.

I picked this item up at an estate. Written "1889 Paris Exposition Depose" around the four sides. I am pretty sure it's a souvenir from the 1889 expo -- it has the right feel. Then, I showed it to a friend who exclaimed, "That's a 1920s thermometer!!" Now, I'm not sure. It is not a mercury therm. The piece is 6-1/2" tall on a 3" base. Any thoughts?...

The pop-out thermometer will not poison you or damage you in any way, if that's what you're wondering. The soft metal that holds the spring-loaded stick does turn to a liquid, but it is not enough metal to cause you discomfort. Go here to see how exactly it works: http://recipes.howstuffworks.com/tools-and-techniq ues/pop-up-timer1.htm Most ...

We put a new Suburban Furnace in our airstream. The Friday night after thanksgiving I checked the outside temp and it was 26 degrees according to my thermometer. The new furnace worked great at night. We stayed nice and warm at night. The days were pretty warm with a temp in the 50's. I took a picture of my dog Friday morning when it was cold outside. Notice how comfortable she is. ...
