I just posted the following article and thought it might interest some people here. I know it won't resonate with others, and will turn still others right off. Such is the nature of the game. Reflections on a Non-Theistic Spirituality Throughout my life Ive identified myself strongly as an atheist and until quite recently Ive devoted very little time or energy to ...

This question concerns the theological implications of theistic evolution. Please keep responses and discussion on-topic, and to the point. Also, this topic is listed in the "Southern Baptist" forum, but note that it applies to other Christian denominations as well. I've heard of some Theistic Evolutionists (those who hold to a Darwinian Evolutionary Theory) try to make a case for Theistic ...

Ok, Since i see that a great percentage of the users in this forum believes in theistic evolution i had some questions. I'm not really asking for a debate, I just couldn't find the right topic, I just want an explanation. I just have a few questions about theistic evolution, if you believe that this is the truth then help me find the truth, thanks. This is all according to evolution 1....

Many theists, and in particular creationists, seem to see god as a one-trick pony. Create the world, blam, job done, no more aces left. I see a universe of unimaginable splendour, changing and growing all the time in a fascinating dance that no single event could hope to compare. It's rather like going to an everlasting fireworks event, taking a single snapshot and saying "There it is - that is ...

I don't usually believe in labels per se, but I've recently decided I'm some form of agnostic. I find it difficult to believe in God considering the data given to us concerning God has been mostly about miracles and interactions without any scientific method to support them. It doesn't help that so many theists contradict themselves in every sentence they speak about their beliefs. It has ...

A poll conducted by the Pew Research Center shows that there are considerable gaps in how the public and scientists view certain issues. For instance, 87% of scientists say living things evolved with only natural processes (though the number jumps to 97%, apparently when theistic evolution is considered), while only 32% of the public accepts this as true; 84% of the scientists think that global ...

One trick pony? For Christians, there's the whole Jesus and the miracles and the whole dying on the cross for the sins of the world thing... Creation plus the cross is at least two tricks, and how many miracles did he do? Then we get to all the other stuff you're talking about.

[b] felix dacat and others, let us consider this argumentation, and as noted @ that other site that science and pilosoopy intertwine themselves, whilst religion is a leech on them. [youtube]. Science ,with those mountains of evidence, reveals causalism rather than telology at work, thereby revealing that those who postulate that a telos -intent- is behind natural causes, contradicts ...

Quote: I capitalized it, and called attention to that capitalization, for a reason. There's a difference between orthodox and Orthodox. There's a difference between catholic and Catholic. There's a difference between creationism and Creationism. No one in the origins debate calls theistic evolution or teleological naturalism "Creationism." And if one insists on ...

As Time magazine recognizes, it has been since the 80’s that theism has come charging back into academic circles. In terms of academic debate, it is quite old. The amazing thing is that Russell seems to believe his teapot is epistemically on ...

Michael: "I see it as an attempt to disguise Creationism by hiding its references to Deities." "I understand that you've been told this sort of thing (it is repeated a lot, so it must be true, right?), but you are apparently unaware that some of the earliest modern design advocates were advocating specifically for a non-theistic intelligence." First, let me make one thing perfectly clear...
