This question concerns the theological implications of theistic evolution. Please keep responses and discussion on-topic, and to the point. Also, this topic is listed in the "Southern Baptist" forum, but note that it applies to other Christian denominations as well. I've heard of some Theistic Evolutionists (those who hold to a Darwinian Evolutionary Theory) try to make a case for Theistic ...

Ok, Since i see that a great percentage of the users in this forum believes in theistic evolution i had some questions. I'm not really asking for a debate, I just couldn't find the right topic, I just want an explanation. I just have a few questions about theistic evolution, if you believe that this is the truth then help me find the truth, thanks. This is all according to evolution 1....

QUOTE (Asgb @ Oct 3 2009, 08:14 PM) Thanks for answering, What is ''temporal death'' caused by? Temporal problems. The growing process causes the aging process which causes the inevitable ceasing of organ function which causes death, if something else didn't kill the body sooner.

Well, not really. But theistic evolution is just as intellectually bankrupt and indefensible as Creationism. Believers in theistic evolution pat themselves on the back for accepting the basic framework of evolutionary theory. I suppose they assume that it makes them really progressive and intelligent. It doesn't. An honest reading of the evidence for evolution--you know, the reason we ...

It is interesting how one thing will be helpful to some and not to others. That is why there is so much available. Thanks for letting me know about links. Peace

I think this essay by Laurence Moran on the relationship between science and religion is very good, and I agree entirely with what it says. It explains why science has to be areligious (not irreligious, note), why it has to use 'methodological naturalism' - the starting assumption that the universe is governed by immutable laws that cannot be suspended by miraculous, supernatural ...

Defining weird as "not evidenced" is pretty weird. Anyway I agree that mxing science and religion results in a two category problem. Like I said on your other thread, science, philosophy and religion involve the use of different methods. Science is investigative, philosophy is reflective and religion is receptive. They each work best when they stick to what they do best. They have different ...

QUOTE (AquinasD @ Oct 3 2009, 02:25 PM) That's a misnomer. Only human death, decay, and suffering is meaningful in this world. The deaths of animals don't matter; the decay of animals don't matter; the suffering of animals is just a contradiction in terms. Animals can't suffer. That is absolutely terrible . Why do you think animals can't suffer? This post has been ...

Christian, Old Earth Creationism and I recognize Micro-Evolution as fact and I'm open to the idea of Theistic Evolution. See we don't ALL hate Science.

(And by "loosely believes" I mean that your average theistic evolutionist believes that there is a God and that he/she/it used evolution to create all we see. As a loose follower I "believe" in evolution and think that maybe there is a god who might have been involved in kicking it off. Maybe.)
