Hi All, I am pleased to announce the inaugural 1st Ludlow Whisky Festival! Some of you may have attended the York Festival that I have organised for the last 6 years and it has been a great success. Whilst not on the scale of Whisky Live or the Fringe, it is a chance for those of you not able to get to London, Edinburgh or Glasgow to join in the fun. A brief run-down... I have 2 questions. Whisky from the spirit safe has a gaelic name beginning with "c", but I can't remember it. Does anyone know it as its annoying me? Cask strength whisky which is 50-60% abv can burn the roof of your mouth off, yet spirit safe whisky which can be 70% abv seemingly tastes quite sweet (perhaps with a hint of apple) and won't burn the roof of your mouth off. How can this be??

Just thought I'd use my 100th post to say something useful. This autumn two special bottlings are making their way to Norway. First off in August/September is the first ever (according to the Norwegian importer) bottling of post-reopening Bruichladdich whisky (Bruichladdich spirit, made after the re-opening in 2001). Price is 499 NOK (approx £50, 46%, ex-bourbon, nc, ncf and no ACE'ing). ...

Ganga, the Society Bowmore was the following: Bowmore 10yo ( 55.6%, SMWS, Cask #3.137 , Feb-1998/Mar-2008, Refill Sherry Butt ) And I agree, I really liked this as well. What you're saying about expectations totally comes into play here. The Laphroaig 30 is the perfect example for me, I expected a ton out of this one, and it just didn't live up to expectations. Don't get me wrong it's an ...
