Can anybody tell me why State Troopers hang out in the fast lane doing 50 mph? Over the past several years, while driving to and from the coast, I have seen two close calls due to this behavior.

Common frustration going through the tolls out of the airport: despite the fact that Boston cabbies are required to have and use Fast Lane transponders, they refuse to do so. If I ask them to use it ahead of time, I get a 50% cooperation rate. If I don't, they always go to the cash tolls. What's the deal? Has anyone used the Fast Lane at The Fillmore at Irving Plaza? I'm seriously paranoid about things, it would ease my nerves if someone told me (from experience) where the lane is and when they start letting people in from that lane.
