It's Mary Jane and I just got into the Eli Young Band's music after listening to their songs on their myspace.com/eliyoungband page one day when my umgd roommate was telling me about them. Of the songs on there, my fave is When It Rains...awesome song. If I had to describe their sound I guess they kinda sound like Rascal Flatts but a little less country, but it's still pretty good. well just ...

I got a little curious today and decided to see what Brad Eldred was getting into this year. I was quite surprised to see what I did. First, I did not even know that he was in the minors with the White Sox this year. Second, he has a consistent average around .260 which isn't to bad either considering he has struggled for the most part at hitting for average at high levels of pro baseball....

Last night I watched, for the first time, the 1958 movie "The Big Country" which starred Gregory Peck and Charleton Heston. The movie, which was 3 hours long, was a great one. They just don't make them like that anymore.

This is airing tonight at 8 on TCM in honor of Charlton Heston day. Before a few days ago I had never even heard of it. Is it any good? Other than Gregory Peck, I'm not the biggest fan of the cast. And I must admit, it looks like a fake Giant . I vant to be alone.

I am not a fan of Giant either. The Big Country is a wonderfully subversive Western. All the Western tropes about honor and manhood are turned on their heads. It's quite wonderful and startling. I should be able to love my country and still love justice. Camus

Apparently, I have been mistaken on my stats for Eldred this year. I received this email today: "Those stats on baseballcube or whatever it is are wrong. First of all, they seem to list Charlotte as having teams in both AA and AAA, which is wrong. Eldred has spent the entire season in AAA. It's better to look at minor league stats through the White Sox page on mlb.com. Eldred does have ...

TOKYO, Sept 5 (Reuters) - Former foreign minister Taro Aso, frontrunner to become Japan's next leader, faced a growing field of six would-be rivals on Friday, as the ruling party hoped a vibrant leadership race would revive its dismal voter ratings.
