The American Dream of home ownership for all is a fraud. Politicians who pimped this dream created an unsustainable mortgage industry whose collapse is only surprising because it didn't happen earlier. America's mortgage industry will not recover, nor deserve to recover, unless it is prepared to challenge this politically unpalatable reality.

The principles that the United States were founded upon somehow became askewed over time. People nowadays think that they are owed the American Dream instead of having to earn it. Americans and immigrants built this country from the ground up through blood, sweat, tears, and patience. Now everyone wants to be "bailed out" of their mistakes instead of working hard and making wise decisions.

This is america. We should not be close to poverty or have people struggling, unless its by choice. Would it be unpractical to have no rich or poor people, but equal? Are some people getting paid more than they should. Ex. doctors are paid less than athletes. Who could get our priorties and morals straight? Is this possible?

No. I read this crap back in my first year of college and nothing anywhere follows the book. There is no indication in the book of mass murder or deprivation or the extreme luxury the ruling class lives in.

No, they are all dead losers. Seriously, I don't think the American Dream is like those of past countries, because there was at least an attempt to have a government "by the people", whereas most other past societies (especially empires), were formed by a small group of people taking power in a region, becoming the government & subverting the citizens by force of violence.
