I read this yesterday: http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Canon-E OS-7D-Digital-SLR-Camera-Review.aspx which suggests you should set the 7D to 2 or 3 in camera sharpening. Here's the text: "My perception is that, at a sharpness setting of "2", the 7D image is similarly sharp as the 50D image. And at a sharpness setting of "3", the 7D image is similarly sharp as the 5D Mark II image. ...

I have been reading that capture sharpening on aD3x requires a different approach then a D3/D700 which I have upgraded from. Any thoughts on the subject? WIth my D700 I would come out of CNX2 with no sharpening and do all my capture sharpening in PS CS4 using photokit capture sharpener. I also purchased "Real World Image Sharpening" a good read btw.. I'm going to provide a bunch of images to some folks who may wish to print them. I'm planning on sending some for monitor display at 900 pixels on the vertical side as 1440x900 seems a relatively common laptop monitor size, and optimizing sharpening for that output purpose. But they also may print them, and not necessarily on a photo printer, per se. More like a color office printer, but unknown...

The fine art of sharpening I've been playing around with photo editing software for some time now (ACDSee), but the one area I've been sort of afraid to tackle is sharpening. Just recently I began delving into it, but I'm not sure I'm going about it properly. Here's what I do: After I'm done with all my other adjustments, I ...

I've been testing out output sharpening and printing to Costco labs. I seem to have visible "harshness" around specular highlights in the prints when I use output sharpening (print is 300 dpi, contone). Prior to sharpening, the image was resized to 1800X1200 (6" by 4" prints). I used a sharpening layer that contained a smart object copy of the image, set to luminosity blend, 60% opacity, blend...

Hi guys, Wondering if I can pick ya'lls brains a bit here. I've had a heck of a time trying to learn how to sharpen bh. I was over at Trad Gang.com and saw where some guy uses the Lansky Sharpener Standard Knife Set, along with a multi- angle clamp and a mount. Has any of you had any experience with this? I have spent a fair amount of money trying different ways people has said works for them ...

How in the world do you sharpen this blade shape? The only thing that I can think of is to use the edge of the stone. I know a Sharpmaker will work, but I need to reprofile the edge and that will take forever on a sharpmaker, even with the diamond rods. Any suggestions?

My wonderful wife got a Sharpmaker for me for Christmas (you may not have known that part), and I spent yesterday trying to love it. Here is the part you probably *did* already know.... I was attempting to polish the edges of a Spyderco S30V which is reported (by Sal on the video) to have a 30 degree edge. I discovered that this was mostly true, except for the last half inch of the ...

I almost had my mind set on the Spyderco Sharpmaker but then i read about the Edge Pro. This looks like you can choose an angle and reprofile the edge if needed, then sharpen it up real nice. What are you thoughts on this system? Is it a good system for a newb@sharpening like me? How easy is it to use?
