The Strib reports that on Monday someone cut through the outfield fence and hacked away at the outfield circuit breakers to steal the copper inside. The loss is "substantial enough," (Saints GM Derek) Sharrer said. He declined to put a dollar figure on it, saying an electrician hadn't been out yet to say how much it would cost to repair or replace the wiring. The power ...

Wednesday currently only have 16 outfield players fit, and 3 goal keepers so 19 in all. I hope someone comes in today otherwise were going to struggle big time.

Say we signed Holliday and traded for Granderson. Swisher, Melky or whoever would be the RF Next yr we go hard after Crawford if he hits free agency. Holliday would move to RF The outfield D would be Crawford-Granderson-Holliday A combination of excellent D (Crawford and Grandy in particular but Holliday is no slouch) and great power (from Grandy and Holliday in particular though Crawford ...

I think this notion that Matsui cannot play the outfield was spread by YES shill Michael Kay. First of all, I'm not saying Matsui is a Gold Glove out there. He was a centerfielder in Japan and was asked to move to a new position when he got here. Yes, he's butchered some balls out there, but he played LF relatively well. He has a stronger and more accurate arm than Damon, and has a ...

Okay, does anyone else think this is a stupid idea, wasting money on a right handed 1st baseman who will sit the bench a lot and making plans for Laporta to play both the outfield and 1st base meaning that the left fielder would be a platoon player playing against only right handed pitching? Why platoon Laporta in left field after he got hurt this past season playing the outfield? Does ...

obviously if the Red Sox don't resign him, he's one of the best available outfield bats. They have said they are more interested in signing Matt Holiday. This is all just dreaming, but if we were to take a realistic approach, is it even possible to free up enough money?

Building off of the "best available" hitter idea I saw mentioned in another thread, how would everyone feel about picking up Adrian Beltre for 3B and going against previous reports and playing Teahen in one of the corner outfield spots? It could free up Quentin to at least be a part time DH and hopefully help him stay healthy. I would certainly not consider Beltre the "best available" hitter,...

Haven't seen much discussion this offseason on the board about our injury-prone young slugger taking a year just hitting and part-timing it in the outfield. Granted, I premise all of this by saying Kenny needs a really good additional everyday outfielder (so that a Pods/Coco type, or a platoon of Kotsay and, shudder, Jones, can play the other spot), but assuming that's the case.... Why not...

Thanks to McCalvy , Oeltjen used to be a top Twins prospect. He makes good contact and covers all three outfield positions, though he's limited in CF. Could be a guy that sneaks onto the roster next year, and he's still young enough to break out. Good signing.

Apparently all of East London is gridlocked. Gillingham have 7 outfield players plus their two keepers at the ground, and only half their kit. According to FiveLive though, because they have the minimum 7 outfield players there, the ref is well within his rights (and is going to) make them start the game. This is professional football in the 21st Century, not the fucking Sunday Parks League! ...

Hooray for signing Brian Schneider. They should have done that a year ago instead of Baco. What is wrong with a 3rd catcher, and one who bats right handed and can also play some infield and outfield too ? Chris Coste is a Free Agent again and it seems to me that he was a pretty good "egg" in the clubhouse! Polanco never should have been let go in the first place. Getting him back should be a ...
