Edited on Wed Nov-11-09 01:32 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter (This is a 'think piece' not advocacy. I am not arguing against passage of HCR. Just noting that our political system and electorate lack the maturity or sophistication to do a good job of it.) When the national government is heavily involved in national health the government must think and behave like doctors. In ...

I'm researching and am able to find lots of information comparing different countries and how much they spend on health care within their total GDP. However I can't find information of how GDP changes within one single country such as France or Canada, when they switched from their old health care system to a universal health care system? Does GDP in this area decrease or increase.

It is obvious that you are wasting dollars paying for a middle man gov. insurance system, when you could simply pay the wages of all medical personnel, eliminating the big bonuses, the hidden money, etc...

Not to be outdone, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced last month that, as Congressional Quarterly reported, the House bill "will allow young people to ...

Judged: 2 1 1 Did Mr. Johnson read the bill in its entirety? I doubt it, just as I doubt most lawmakers did. What about fines of up to 250K and jail time if you don't sign up? A health czar who deems what is appropriate? What would that person's qualifications be? What about special education for minorities? What about tort reform?(Nary a word about that one!) All this stuff...

The first vote has almost finished at this time. It is about providing Federal Funding via the "new" national health insurance. The vote is being tabulated now. If you do not have C-Span you can watch it live on your computer at www.cspan.org . Current vote tally: Yea 209 Nay 174 This would limit abortion funding except in certain cases (Stupak Amendment).
