Has anyone had this done? I had my 36 week appointment today and my midwife talked about starting to strip the membranes at 38 weeks because they do not want me to go over my due date because of pregnancy induced hypertension. Has anyone had this done or planning to? I'm wondering if it will really work?? Also, I had my first pelvic exam today and was no dilated but 50% effaced. I am now a ...

I am considering having my doctor strip my membranes at 38 weeks. I have been so uncomfortable lately I don't know if I could go all the way to 40 weeks! Also, I know it is possible and likely to VBAC a big baby, but I want to give myself all the chances I can, and since my last was 9.6 lbs born on his due date, I think I will have a better chance if this baby comes early! Does stripping ...

I went for a check up today and to see if my doctor could strip my membranes. She told me that they don't do that anymore. I have Kaiser, so I don't know if it's just a Kaiser thing. Has anyones doctor told them that they wouldn't do it?

I had my membranes stripped this morning. I've had it done in the past but it never worked because the doctors did it at 37-38 weeks. I'm 39.5 weeks this time and she stripped them for me. I bled for a while and cramped but now nothing...so I'm not holding my breath. How long after having yours stripped did it work? or did it work at all and how far along were you?

Can someone tell me what happens when a doctor strips your membranes? What does it do? Can it cause labor? When does a doctor actually perform this? AND most important, would it be worth asking my doctor about on Monday when I am 39 weeks?! Any info would be helpful! Thanks! Jessica (28) DH (31) DD born 3/04/06- Second baby girl due 12/28/09- Scarlett Reese

So I went to the doctor yesterday and I am 3 cm dilated and 50% effaced. I asked her about stripping my membranes and she went ahead and did it. So far just terrible braxton hicks. Didn't know if anyone else has had it done. Ashley married to Chuck 06-12-07 Luke Emory 07-14-08 Landyn Emersyn 01-05-10 scheduled induction 12-29-09 if he doesn't come before then!

My dr. just did a sweeping of my membranes and I am wondering how much blood is normal? I have gone to the bathroom twice and got the tissue full of blood both times. Is this normal? I'm hoping so and hoping this works!

If you had your membranes stripped, when did your OB do it? How far along were you, and were you showing signs of going into labor? I am curious.....I am almost 37 weeks! (YAY ME!) I made slight change between week 32 and 36. (went from my cervix being closed and thick and baby still being up high to a -2 station) I could tell she dropped down a little just because of the way my pants were ...

Hi everyone. I just want to first say that this board is awesome! It has been so helpful for me in learning to ep as a first-time mom of twins. You ladies are wonderful. Now for my question- I inherited a PISA from a good friend and I was wondering how often you should change the membranes and valves? I could not find a manual online for the PISA and my friend forgot to give it to me. I'm ...

Okay, first a few disclaimers... #1 I'm not as crunchy as most mamas on here, but I'm very practical, and try to get away with as little medicine as possible. #2 I'm only 20 weeks pregnant so I have a while to think about this. To make a long story short, I was induced with DD 4 days past my EDD, and after I had my membranes swept since about 37 weeks. I was in labor with her for only ...

A series of experiments is performed to determine the mechanism by which a pharmacologic agent traverses cell membranes and accumulates within target cells. The rate of transport depends on the concentration of the drug only. When the extracellular concentration of the agent exceeds 10 mM, no further increase in the rate of uptake is observed. Structurally similar compounds pass through the cell...

Long story short, my birth plan went out the window as soon as labor started. My membranes ruptured before the onset of labour, I laboured for 19 hours before I allowed them to start a pitocin drip. At that point, I had only progressed to 1 cm and 50% effaced and floating. Five hours of contractions on top of another, I caved and asked for a shot of morphine. That did nothing but...
