I recently acquired three stanley machinist vises. 991a 992a and 993a. The 992a has a quick lock base but the other two have no bases. I was wondering what my options are to get bases. I don't really know too much about these so any help would be wonderful. Thanks

I have a bike part that needs to have a hole tapped in it. Does anyone know if there is a machinist in the county that works cheap? The manufacturer wants 30 dollars plus shipping both ways to do that, which is pretty high

Hey guys, I need a local machinist to drill out the hole for a speedo sensor in a WJ NV242 I just picked up (sourced from a 2004 model): The resulting hole will need to seal to the O-rings on the sensor module, so I'm thinking professional assistance would be beneficial. Anyone know of a shop they can recommend? Thanks in advance! Campbell

I watched the Machinist last night on Blu-Ray. Quality performances, but I can't say I got into the movie very much. It's a sad story, which would be okay, but I just didn't feel like I took much away from it. The picture quality is good, although the stark blues and cooling filters don't make for demo material. Sound quality is sufficient, the movie is mostly dialog, but I felt that some...

This is a very heavy vise with standard and pipe jaws. I bought it new but never really used it but you can see it has rusted and is dusty. The rust does not affect its function. I believe the jaw head rotates and the entire unit rotates on its base. It has an anvil type surface and can be bolted to a surface which is actually kind of necessary and why I didn't end up using it as I had nowhere ...

Or anyone else who has knowledge about a hydraulic shop press. I'm looking at buying a fairly small table top shop press for minor gunsmith and tinkering work. I've decided I've buggered up my last gun hammering a pin out with a punch. The latest was removing a pin from a High Power that held the mag. safety in place. Harbor freight has a six ton press that they state is accurate within ...

Hi All, I posted about an earlier iteration of these last February HERE . Our machinist Adolph has done a run of these with more improvements from the last version. Have a look on our website for a break down of the various applications for these shifters: Lee Utterbach Universal Shifters

I have the octaganol (hexagonal?) center punch tool used for making bbsc pulleys. I don't really need one at this time, but can probably find a machinist to make new ones using a circular blank aluminum block. The center punch is probably the most labor intensive issue, so this takes care of that. just pm me with a size needed and i'll start looking around to see what i can do.

Hi I'm a semi-retired welder-machinist-fabricator. Been playing with all kinds of motorized stuff most of my life. Driving a Sebring MX kit car (built by myself) and slowly building a '32 Buick roadster hotrod.

I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I'm a wannabe hobby machinist who just converted over from building/restoring cars. I really hate sanding so the car thing was getting old. Anyway, with Michigan's failing economy I have been able to pick up some really nice machines for very little money over the last year or so. My first find was the Mill, a 1985 Supermax variable speed, ...

I built an awesome splitter last winter that is Bobcat mounted. I used a 1" plate and is 18" tall. I have a good friend who is a machinist and he made the cutting edge for me. He used a 3" DIA round stock and milled it to a point. That is a lot of milling to shave a 3" piece to 1", anyway I then welded it to the main piece and works good. I want to add a 4 of 6 way to it and don't ...
