Flathead Catfish Spawn - Flatheads spawn in the summer near logs and other protective cover. Females lay between 4,000 and 93,000 eggs that are sticky and adhere to the bottom or cover. The male guards the bed. I have many questions about the flathead spawn, what is the greatest enmy to the flathead spawn, are the flathead eggs eatin by other fish, even if 10,000 flathead eggs are deposited...

I found a guy that had been holding all of these flatheads from the 1950's. I wanted one motor, and ended up having to buy them all. 6 flatheads in all, tons of parts, transmissions to. One motor is a Merc flathead, I haven't ran any of the numbers on any of the motors. Any ideas on what i should keep, and what i should sell. I am not to familar with the ...

I just set down a frame I am building, for the glue to set up, for a salt flat racer from the 40's I am building. I found an old V-8 flathead engine in black plastic and chrome from some forgotten kit. I had planned to use a 4 or 8 cylinder flathead from a '32 Ford kit but found this old built flathead V-8 in good condition. Trouble is I have no idea what vehicle it would be from. It has ...

For once my Google-Fu has failed me and I don't really want to buy a scale and go weigh the flathead six I have in the garage. Does anyone know the general weights of the 218-230 and the larger 250-264 flathead engine families? I was just curious how much they weighed in comparison to more modern engines. Thanks in advance!

In my search for valves for an 8BA Flathead I've been looking to see if there are alternatives to the expensive aftermarket "Flathead" valves. I've heard talk of some using SBC Valves but they must be cutting them because of their length. Then of course you loose that hardened end. Anyway this is the info I have for stock Flathead valves Head Diameter: 1.500" Stem Diameter: 11/32" Valve ...

Does anyone know the thread pitch of a sparkplug for a '50 Flathead? I am going to look at a '50 Mercury Flathead this Saturday. I want to do a compression check. I dont have a guage. All the dial compression gauge checkers I've looked at are metric. The guy at Napa told me that the Ford V8 Flathead's are...

I spoke with a buddy of mine today who just had his '48 Flatty Generator converted to 12 volt. Now, here is the problem. His car system is pulling about 58 amps and the converted generator can't keep up and it draining the battery. He does not want to run an Alternator or convert his generator to an alternator. Is there away for him to get more amperage out of...

I just purchased a 1950 Lincoln Cosmopolitan 4-dr slantback that needs restoring. It has the 337ci flathead, auto transmission, power windows, hydraulic suspension, and even has the complete factory air conditioning. I was wanting to know if many were built with air, and if these are not as rare as i thought. Thanks.

To wind up a cracking year of Kayak Fishing with a great community, we held our final event for the year, Yakfishwests Canning Classic on Sunday December 6th 2009. In the form of a social day, with a social bream/flathead catch and release competition in the morning, and a picnic lunch, chinwag and play around on the yaks. Sorry, no fish pics, but perhaps some of the guys who entered can put them...
