An Amish woman and her daughter were riding in an old buggy one cold blustery day. The daughter said to her mother, 'My hands are freezing cold.' The mother replied, 'Put them between your legs. Your body heat will warm them up.' The daughter did, and her 2 hands warmed up. The next day, the daughter was riding with her boyfriend who said, 'My hands are freezing cold.' The girl ...

I just shot this teaser for an upcoming documentary that profiles the secret lives of Amish Hot Rodders. It was lensed with the Red One, cut in FCP and graded in Apple Color. The Vimeo upload got a little washed out, not sure why. -Dave Dessel http://www.vimeo.com/8181643

Not sure if anyone is aware, but the Amish Furniture Outlet has filed for bankruptcy. I have some furniture from them and will be sad to see them go, high quality merchandise. Danbury is now liquidating showroom furniture. I had a $150 gift card and now it’s worthless. This sucks for anyone who has a credit note or outstanding order.

cocerning the amish heater...research excerpt: How about those lower heating bills and Heat Surge's statement that the heater "can handle a 325 sq. ft. room for about 16 cents an hour"? Any similarly sized electric heater will do that, provided you use it in one room and keep others chillier?that's just basic zone heating. Note, however, that electricity costs roughly two and a half times ...

With all the talk (& criticism) about religion on here & w/ sooo many being mean spirited enough to wish Michelle Duggar bad, I was just wondering what people's thoughts were about the Amish? Personally when I think of them two word come to mind "PEACEFUL PEOPLE" Maybe if I had been born in to an Amish family, it wouldnt be soo bad as that's all I would know, but I dont think I'd ever convert or...

Convince me that 29ers are teh gheysuck. I have a 6" FS bike and a DH bike. Looking for something for XC riding out my backdoor. Boise is a lot of ups and downs and it's really built for the spando crowd-not that technical, smooth, small ring climbs and big ring decents. I know that leads to a 29er which I'm considering. If I went that way, I want XT or X9 level bits, mediumish or ...

...caught my attention. Pasted below is an article that appeared in the Goshen newspaper. Seems the curriculum director is pleased with a 90% graduation rate. I'm a bit surprised. It's always been my impression that Amish kids have a higher than average drop-out rate, so I would have guessed the figure was lower. I checked some other area schools and found these figures from 2008: Carroll -...

A cautionary tale for the TGN community and lessons learned. I ordered a sideboard from Amish Furniture outlet in Pickering. Long and short, got the runaround re order but bill clearly states in fine print no cancellation and non refundable. Unfortunately whilst all the sales people were lying through their teeth, this company filed for bankruptcy I hate the fact that these salespeople ...
