Well, I arrive up here at my folks' place where I happily set up an AppleTV about 18 months ago to find it's little light on the front blinking amber and totally dead. No sound, no video output, nothing. You plug it in and nothing happens. Needless to say I'm bloody annoyed.

I have a XPS720 desktop (out of warranty) and have had the blinking amber power button issue these last few weeks. Leaving power cord out for a hour or two and it boots OK. Once booted, if left for a long time (e.g. overnight), the mouse curor can be moved around but it is ineffective in that clicking does not open files etc. Only option is to press power button to turn off, after which ...

The inside of the bowl is smooth and when the light hits it, the colors are peach/orange/amber. The bowl measures 9-1/2" in diameter and the edge is scalloped. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. ...

mil53 no one will tell you personally that your computer is under extended warranty. If you're experiencing some problems you have to check HP website. You can find this: HP Limited Warranty Service Enhancement Please read carefully whole page - do not flash new BIOS if you don't have to.

Mine is just now like this too, and it's about a month out of warranty. I'm not sure what to do. I'm trying to decide if I should replace the HD and see if I can repair it enough to run boxee, or if I should just buy a Mac Mini or Acer Aspire Revo and just set the HTPC up that way instead.
