Hi all, I got this message after installing CentOS 5.1 in text mode and console: It occures after the first reboot after installing: [ Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists the possible completions of a device/filename.] I pushed TAB and get a list with possible commands. I used "boot" but ...

I am generally at the text mode in Centos 4 or 5. Using Slackware and Lilo, you choose a three digit number in the lilo configuration to boot at a higher than standard resolution using the vesa driver. Using grub, how do I achieve the same thing? Thank you. Alan

I've installed Mandriva One 2010 on an EeePC 900 (Intel 915GM video). When I boot to text mode (init level 3), no matter what vga= option I set on the boot line, It still goes to 128x34 on /dev/tty[1-6]. This is a bit too small for my ancient eyes. When I set vga=0, it starts out in 80x25, but then flips into the aforementioned 128x34. How can I get 80x25 (or *anything* x 25)...

When I try to enter text in Adobe Photoshop Version 6.0 and then press Enter to move down one line, the cursor moves to the beginning of the line that I am in rather than down one line. Is there a way to change this so that upon pressing enter, the cursor will shift down a line? I have Windows Vista Home Premium Edition 64-bit. Â Regards, Â JMT

Greetings- I am having an issue with my Linux setup, and I was wondering if anyone has seen this problem before and had a solution for it. I installed Fedora 11 on my system (see below) using the i686 DVD. The graphical install worked just fine, and after the system booted back up, the X server was working very well. There is no boot text. On the other system with Fedora 11, I ...

If I pause the text to speech and it goes into sleep mode after a while, I'm not sure how to restart speech mode after I take the K2 out of it's sleep. I tried just pressing the space bar but that doesn't seem to do it. I tried restarting it under the Text key but nada.

This can be achieved by passing boot parameter to kernel before boot as follows: vga=0x31A so when you edit the kernel boot parameters, the kernel line should look something like this: kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-164.6.1.el5 ro root=LABEL=/12 rhgb quiet vga=0x31A This will boost your console resolution to 1280x1024.

Dank voor de reacties! @Ro_Serpiente: Dat staat hij. Automatisch.

In the BIOS setting you can specify the BOOT ORDER. A lot of computers are set to boot from C: first so it'll only boot from the CD-ROM when the hard disk is empty or broken. When the computer first starts and is still in text mode (before the Windows logo) there will be a line that says something like "Press to edit BIOS settings". You can now screw around with the low level hardware ...
