Interesting topic I thought to bring up since we have several Landlords in this forum as well as tons of tenants in the forum to. What are your thoughts about a tenant blacklist? A tenant blacklist (for those who don't know) is information shared by and between Landlords which basically informs and warns Landlords if a prospective tenant is considered undesirable due to: late rent ...

My latest tenant (4 months in to a 6 months let) has been hassle since he moved in. First he sneaked a dog in (knowing full well no dogs) and has never set up the DD with his bank to pay the rent. I did agree to let the dog stay after he agreed to monthly expections by the agent. He has canceled every agreed date with the agent for the last 2 months and is now late with last months rent. He has ...

Deposit was lodged with DPS. £900. Damage was extensive. Tenant will not accept damage. Damage is over £2k. Have not yet begun process of getting deposit back through DPS. Have had trouble with them in the past. However, the tenant forgot to cancel the standing order, and I now have about £1000 of his money. Can I legally keep this? I was the one who told the tenant that he had not ...

I've this tenant in our property. We thought he'd be OK as his sister also rents a flat in the house but he's a stoner and we want shut. I've already confiscated his pot but I'm sure he'll buy more. How do I get rid of him?

Hi all, Sorry to have to ask such a simple question, but I haven't had any experience with this before and the directgov site seems to make reference to it. If I pay by cheque for the tenant deposit scheme, is the cheque cashed and then held or is the cheque held and cashed when I move out in x months/years? Sorry and thanks!

I'm the original tenant on the lease for the apt. The required year is over, and I'm thinking of moving out. But my current roommates are staying. I prefer to be off the lease, and the rent would drop a small amount. Would my roommates be required to sign a new lease requiring a year or would they be allowed to rent going month to month? They are on the current lease, but just came in ...

Hi, I am in the middle of an unfortunate landlord-tenant dispute at my old apartment. The landlord refused to pay us our security deposits when we moved out at the end of August. While we were still living there, she had the bathroom professionally cleaned, and some loose tiles in the shower wall were replaced. After we moved out, she decided to replace the bathtub in our old apartment. The ...

As a home owner I have insurance on my house. I'm under the impression that when renting my house, the tenants require their own insurance. My question is why? I understand they need coverage for their personal belongings but are there any other reasons? If they don't want insurance on their belongings do I really need them to have insurance? Thanks

Hi, I was trying on a forum to help someone who has a problem with a tenant, and someone posted a message, saying "get a frenchman to move in next door", like that, no capital letter, and the person I was trying to help answered: "hahaha, good one". I feel very offended as a French and as a helper in that forum. Is there another meaning I wouldn't be aware of? some slang or something? ...
